Thomas Krome - Eggplant EP - 22-Oct-09 09:48 AM
What a great ep this is. As much as I love my techno raw and boiled, Thomas Krome’s Fried is the real gem on this ep. The masterchef shares us a glimpse on how he cooks, fries and boils in his techno kitchen. It starts out with chaotic ticking and mixed echo noises . After some time the sounds merge together very subtle. A swelling bass drum then mixes together with the other sounds and merges the flavoures perfectly. The chaotic ticks and cracklings are filtered from the start, but when the track moves on they open up more and more in a hypnotic way. Then some hi-hats, snares and a filtered kick drum are added and dinner is served! A feast for all those hungry ears, and energy for the dancing feet. At the end all the ingredients fall away one by one and the end finishes like it started. He can cook for me anytime if he is serving tracks like this.
Sad we don’t hear so much from this artist who has been very low profile since 2001.
Convextion - Convextion 2 - 23-Oct-08 11:49 AM
Personaly the track Ebulience embodies for me the word Techno. The ever changing haunting and hissing sounds combined with a forcing ongoing rhythmic kick gets you in instant hypnosis. There is so much anger in Ebulience. Near the end there as a break and its like some being is searching and calling out for something and when it gets no recall the Anger starts off again. Warping beautiful insect sounds flying through the whole track. This must be the feeling when some one with a "cold turkey" feels something crawling under his skin. This track gets you by the throat and crawls under your skin forever. This is one the most uncompromising tracks of Convextion. The track Niche is a lovely delicate textured track with some detroitish strings singing around. The lush end floats away like the end of a beautifull summernight. Minimalistic techno at its best and how it should be! When you will hear this you will be addicted forever. Listening at own risk.
Iesope Drift - Tuljähn - 02-Jan-07 08:53 AM
Monotone Bulldozer techno with an industrial-esque atmosphere. The first track starts with a swelling sound and all of a sudden chaos hits in like a bomb. At the end there is a high key piano hook which brings the track to maximal pressure. This could still be played today. A timeless piece of minimal techno.
Best played in dark places with much smoke and a strobe blasting in your face.
Iesope Drift get those drummachines out and make some more.
Quazar - The Seven Stars - 02-Oct-06 01:11 AM
The Seven Stars was made after eddy, Eric & Gert went to their label manager to let him hear some new tracks. It was House Of Venuss Dish & Tell which later on Prince took samples from for a track. He liked it but found the tracks to laidback and wanted the next Ep to be a little harder. Gert was feeling very offended by the comment of his masterpiece Dish & Tell. When gert came home he was furious and took a seat behind his keyboard. He thought: so you want rough ill give you rough! When the melody was finished he was relieved and the track was born. That night he had a dream about a six star constellation standing high in the sky. All of a sudden a seventh star was there. And that became the title: The Seven Stars. It came out the moment when the second wave of house music came. Seven Stars is build up from samples from gerts former rockband before he produced house music. If Seven Stars wouldnt be a succes they would form another project under a different name. The track still sounds fresh today and is still played by djs like Michael Mayer and Ricardo Villalobos.
51 Days - Paper Moon - 01-Oct-06 02:57 PM
This Ep is set to be the first Tech-House record ever produced. In 1994 it was one of the biggest tech-house tracks of the year. Its a smooth groovy spacious Tech-House track with a warm vocal which takes you a level higher. Only for this track alone a must have. For many an all-time favorite which includes me.
So deep, So liquid...
