Seba - Valley Of The Moomins / Car Crash - 11-Jul-07 07:14 AM
Anyone who grew up in Northern Europe in the last decades of the 20th century will probably have been subjected to the Moomins: White and soft Scandinavian “trolls” that lived in their very own Moomin Valley from which they set forth to appear in various books and cartoons.
Seemingly inspired by this the A side is a collaboration between Seba and Lo-Tek wich can best be described as something like a frozen flower in full bloom. The track is driven by a warm chord melody and an Apache break which then builds up to a more rolling beat layered with icy strings. Unbelievably deep this track stands as a testament to musical genius.
The AA side is Seba alone indulging in a deep fusion of jazz and a crisp as autumn air Amen break. Perhaps not as stunning as the A side but it is still a superb track.
Various - Artcore - 27-May-07 08:05 PM
This LP is an inspired collection of "Ambient Jungle" tracks which predated Logical Progression by a year. Highlights include Tranquility, Sweet Dreamz, Sparkling and Amazon Amenity
None of the tracks are exclusive except the stunning original mix of Sparkling by Optical. Despite his prolific output in later years he never made a better track than this.
Funky Technicians, The* - Airtight / No Mystery - 12-Sep-06 05:38 AM
The discograpy of The Funky Technicians/Total Science seems endless but Airtight is by far their finest hour. Spine-tingling, drifting strings and rolling beats come together in a deceptively minimal track which manages to be so very epic at the same time. No Mystery on the flip side is also an excellent melodic drum & bass track.
Seeka - Wasteland - 04-Sep-06 09:27 AM
According to Justice there were only 800 made. The A side, Wasteland, is a melodic fusion of futuristic electro and drum & bass. The true classic is the untitled AA side however which is one of the ultimate chilled out drum & bass tracks complete with a sample of someone emerging from being underwater.
