Profile: When I was 14 years old I started my participation in the Radio of my neighbourhood, called "Zarata Irratia" (Noise Radio). Zarata was a collective of young people who believe in the free-information and the self-management.

At that time, Zarata Irratia was mainly focused in rock, heavy, punk, folk and traditional Basque music. Even though I also love rock music, the most part of the members of Zarata collective where focusing their radio programs on it. So I thought that would be more interesting to develop a Radio programme that covered the most part of the styles ignored by my collective mates at that moment. That's the way how in 1995 appeared "thx 1138: Programa de Música Experimental".

I took the name from the George Lucas’ movie, for doing honour to Walter Mürch (the co-screenplay writer, editor and sound editor of that movie), and of course to the great Lalo Schifrin (the soundtrack composer).

The program was not only focused in what here (at discogs) is considered as experimental music. I used that expression to refer to a huge range of styles that, at that time, were considered “rare” by my radio mates; such as: Experimental, Electronic, Ambient, IDM, Braindance, Electro, EBM, Industrial, Techno Industrial, Techno, Techno House, Acid House, House, Jazz, Dub, Downtempo, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Breackcore, Breack Beat...

The main idea was to give information and news, accompanied with music. The radio program ended in 2003, when I left my home town. During the 8 years that I was working in that project, electronic music became mainstream music. Actually a program like that one can be listening in any commercial radio. But I'm so fond of that experience when I take a look to my past.

Discogs was really useful for me during that time. And I hope that the information that I post to Discogs result useful for other users. As the information posted by other users was useful for me.

Death In Vegas - Satan's Circus - 07-Jun-05 03:29 AM
Really Curious these Death In Vegas Album. When everybody can expected they follow the succesfully psychedelic electronic-rock line of "The Contino Sessions" and "Scorpio Risinsg", they turn to a really experimental album. In the line of the first krautrockers they made a really atmosferic dark and emotional album.

Probably consciouss of the fact that some people can object their decission they give us a fantastic second cd with a Live act. If in the first cd we can listen the most experimental Death In Vegas songs, in the second one we can enjoy the energy of a live show full of rock and dance rythms. Fantastic.

Futureshock - Phantom Theory - 17-Feb-05 03:57 AM
I really cannot understand how a person can give a 1/5 mark to this album. Of course we can find thousands of albums better than Futureshocks "Phantom Theory". But its a very powerfull dancefloor oriented album.

I can understand that some people may hate technohouse and dancefloor electronic music, but the fact that you dont like a style doesnt mean that something done in that style is bad.

Phantom theory is a very nice job and a very honest project. Before published this album Futureshock did a very long remixing trainning. They were very brave when they published this album. They could easily published an album in the way of the eighties EBM revival which was the mainstream in 2003. Its obvious that they know very well the dancefloor escene. But they preferer to went for an early nineties techno sound (in the way of Empirion, Age of Love, and Underworld). This is an example coherene.

"Phantom Theory" came ten years late, or ten years early. Beacuse revivals are aproximately every 20 years. But it left us a fistfull of grate songs such as: Statikman, Another Hit, Late At Night, Satellite, Katos Revenge, On My Mind, Wide Open, Spark or Birdcage.

Maybe its not the best album in the history of music, but 9 really good songs in an album with 12 tracks, should inspired a little bit of respect. If I were a musician, I would hanve changed one om my hands for that 75% quality ratio (and that doesnt mean at all that Fifty One, Prides Paranoia and Frequency are bad tunes).

Future Sound Of London, The - My Kingdom - 15-Feb-05 12:20 PM
10/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this full 26 minutes version "My Kingdom" its a masterpiece of the contemporary music. Probably one the best compositions of the whole history of music.

FSOL give a master lesson in the use of sampling technics, with their incredible sampler of Enio Morricones "Once Upon A Time In America" film score. Its really a lesson about how to extract a fragment of another record and use it for create new experiences in people that listenning it.

Morricones "Once Upon A Time In America" film score its one of my favourites motion pictures original soundtracks. Not very much people can use it without a reaction against by a person who have listen it thousand of times.

Morricone is a genius and FSOL too. Because Morricones flute reach a new state in this song. If the incredible use of Morricones sampler its not enough for you it also contains almost other two fantastical samplers from: "Pungent Effulgent" by Ozric Tentacles and "Rachels Song" from the film score "Bladerunner" composed by Vangelis and performed by Mary Hopkin.

Really one of my favourite compositions ever. Fantastic.

Future Sound Of London, The - Accelerator - 15-Feb-05 12:20 PM
An absolutely historical album Originally released in 1991 this album is essential for understand the development of the electronic music during the nineties.

From all the aliases that Brian Dougans & Garry Cobain could have selected for this publishing, they creted this name that actually is the most wellknown: The Future Sound Of London.

That was exactly what "Accelerator" supposed on 1991, nothing else and nothing less that the sound that will dominate on the next ten years at London City.

For two persons that come from the Acid scene (Humanoid), published an album with breakbeats, trip hop, downtempo, ambient, house, techno and some drum & bass rythm structures was really absolutely visionary. Those were the cardinal points of the map in which London music (and electronic music in general) will be moving during the next years.

Today maybe could sound not as visionary, but it have passed practly fifteen years. And it stills sounds actually!

Absolutely great, and absolutely essential. And in this ten anyversary edition with a free bonus cd with "Papua New Guinea Mix Anthology". What else do you want?

Chemical Brothers, The - Music:Response - 10-Feb-05 12:51 AM
In relation with "Surrender" I see that I dont share the opinion of the most part of you. "Music:Response" is the only one of the "Surrender" singles that have some interest for me.

In my opinion Surrender is the worst Chemical Bros. album. "Music:Response" & "Under the Influence" are the only tracks that excels. The rest of the albums and singles show a total lack of creativity, which is also related with their duration (havent you realice that excepting this one they are extremely short? Specially if we compare them with the previous to the date).

This is the only one that I save. If you can find the American edition its more interesting, with a a couple of tracks more and a video.
