JX - Son Of A Gun - 22-Jun-08 02:30 PM
A super smashing great tune of the era.
JX come up with a stomper of a dance tune, Red Jerry fills it with even more energy than a Red Bull at an overactive kid session on the A1 mix.
On the B side you have Flatlands which is an acid stomper which shares many similarities with Access by Dj Misjah & Tim although not as good, but still goes down well.

Many mixes have followed the original format of the classic Son Of A Gun however this version still stand the test of time.

Problem House / 4 For Money - Untitled - 10-Dec-07 01:59 PM
A great great tune, attend any rave in any part of the UK in the early nineties and this is the tune that would have everyone bouncing.
It is impossible to not move when the classic piano riff kicks in, it sums up all that was good about music of the era, a real reach for the roof, strobe flashing, happy energy filled killer.

This version is the un official release which adds additional elecronica and changes the pace of the record from the original version.
However it keeps the listener peaked and ready for the piano breakdown or allows you to breath after the breakdown has already hit.

A True Classic

Tobacco Boys - Headstrong / DaLegend - 07-May-07 07:03 AM
The A1 track Headstrong has all the obvious elements of a kicking trance tune of the era, using the peaks well and in this case the breakdowns even better. The breakdown melody is taken from One Night Stand by the Aloof, to great effect I must add, it really hits the spot!

Whyte - Purple Haze - 29-Mar-07 01:54 AM
Although the obvious track to go would be side A, where you can hear the Hendrix track done with a down tempo piano rave style which rolls along nicely.
Have a flip over to the B side and listen to Love,Lust and Sex and you find somethig very different.

Again the down tempo beats with plenty of synths make a melodic piece but it doesn't really make a connection with the track title. Not until the very graphic porno sound clips hit your ears, then it all makes sense, although when you first hear it, it makes you think that the T.V volume has been turned up and is clashing with your music.

This is a track that could potentially still make the creators money if they played it down the telephone to those who choose to pay for a bit of telecommunication titilation.

Love ,Lust & Sex was one of a few pieces of the era that used samples from the bedroom and put them on the dance floor, but it was never going to have the same success as French Kiss.
