Swayzak - Lokal - 05-Mar-04 03:22 AM
Deep intellectual sounds for sophisticated House heads. Already making a serious name for themselves, Swayzak come correct with two sweet tunes “Blufarm” and “Lokal.” “Blufarm” is on the deep tip with a nice little tweaky zipper sound for extra flavor – peppered with a sweet vocal here and there. “Lokal” is a bit breaky with some nice sounds.
Lionel Hampton - Vibramatic! - Revisited Series #04 - 01-Mar-04 01:03 PM
Welcome to volume 4 of the wonderful revisited 12" series - here comes Lionel Hamptons vibramatic!, originally released in 1984. Just as other vibe players such as Vincent Montana (Salsoul Orchestra) and Roy Ayers tried their hands at disco, the late Lionel Hampton took a leap in 1984 with vibramatic!. With backing synthesizers by Fred McFarlane, vibramatic! has a very "herbie hancock-rock it" feel to it. Versatile/Tigersushi-artist Joakim create a brilliant electro-boogie-dancefloor-monster in the fine tradition of Bill Laswells Praxis or Deadline. One word: Enjoy!
Casino Versus Japan - Go Hawaii - 29-Feb-04 12:15 PM
Erik Kowalskis second album as Casino Versus Japan is an ambient-techno postcard from the nations sunniest state, though the only obvious references to Hawaii come with the faraway slack-key guitar on the opener "Theme" and the delightful vocal samples of a preschooler on "Its Very Sunny." Elsewhere, Go Hawaii is a superb album of chill-out techno-pop — heavy on the spacious synth, minor-key melodies, and crunchy percussion programs. Check "Local Forecast," "Late for School," and "Over Island" for some of the dreamiest techno to come out of the American underground, or "Dielectric Saints" for an atmospheric soundclash between dub and noise-pop.
