Blue Velvet (2) - 09-Sep-08 12:28 PM
Seminal British Label that kick started scouse house with its rare compilations. Very localised - barely a handful ever came out.

Utilising the sounds of Euro House, Piano, Girly Vocal and other Cheesey Italian style tracks that, all together, became what is now known as 'Scouse House'. The sound which developed into a chart phenomenon, spawning over a hundred new record labels and thousands of releases.

For the 1990's in Liverpool, this small label was the equivalent of The Cavern in the 1960's.

Various - Black Velvet Vol 10 - 19-Jun-08 08:25 AM
A Great compilation, another classic in the Black Velvet series.

These EP's quickly came to be legendary as they sourced the Original White Labels mixes for these 12"'s, later when the majors came along they got edited or later remade versions. Artists frequently losing the master tape in the time since and having to knock up a new version double quick.
So these are the gems!

Unfortunately they suffered from poor distribution as we found it very difficult to source them. As for the quality, well, no problems at all - it does play well and if you have a crap system then anything will sound crap.
This much is obvious.

Anyone looking for Digital quality versions are fooling themselves, bear in mind the originals were mostly recorded on bedroom equipment long before home studios became standard.
