Profile: Hello music-lover!

I'm Bert from Belgium, but most ppl know me as Tox through the internet as I help run www.psygarden.be
My main interests are progressive & psy-trance, chill out & downbeat and quality house & techno.
Since I've been into electronic music for over 10 years now, my collection is pretty broad.
See if there's anything in there you would like to trade? Everything is negotiable, though 5/5-albums will probably never leave my collection...

Various - In Order To Dance 6 - 18-Apr-08 07:25 AM
It wasn't house, it wasn't techno, it wasn't electro... it was something totally different! Probably my own first encounter with Drum'n'Bass... This music totally blew me away at the time, because it seemed so hectic and pumping yet at the same time also calm and soothing.

I can agree about the Locust-track being the best one but the general level of quality is pretty high. Nearly all the tracks are highly enjoyable and most remixes here are totally new tracks, using only very few elements of the original. The best example is probably Alex Reese's version of Kenny Larkin's "Loop 2"
The main ingredient in those days was JAZZ: lots of saxophones, trumpets, big bass sounds, drum-patterns, loops, and samples. Those sounds give the music even more class and have nothing to do with the aggressive dancefloor madness that was still to come later on. That's probably why I used to make love to this with my first real girlfriend...

To me this stuff doesn't sound the least bit dated, even after more than 10 years. Together with Goldie's "Timeless" and Aphrodite's 1st album, one of my most cherished d!

Radioactive Man - Fabric 08 - 05-Jan-07 01:10 AM
I actually bought this cd after some recommendations on the discogs-forum & I'm still enjoying it a LOT. Great selection of a broad spectrum of styles, from more poppy vocal stuff like Slam Featuring Dot Allison to classic Anthony Rother, but also seriously banging tracks by Disco D & a doubble dosis of the Radioactive Man himself.
My instant favourite though was Basic Units's "Explode" with its infectious groove & a clear message: "Let the rhythm explode: big, bad & bold!"
Highly recommended for all electro-lovers from Detroit-purists to classy club-sluts...

Various - Teknoville (The Sound Of) - 20-Dec-06 11:19 AM
This is an incredible collection of Oldskool Techno from the early 90's, back when nearly everybody in Belgium still called àll electronic music "house".
What makes this compilation so special to me, is that it's not just filled by either the "usual suspects" from Detroit OR by a bunch of clubby one-hit-wonders. Especially CD1 is an exciting mix of just amazing electronic music. Sometimes it sounds a little dated, probably due to the limited hardware it was made on, but every track just radiates originality & energy.
The few names that I do know on here (Speedy J, Plastikman, Laurent Garnier, L.S.G. & Union Jack) are a good indication of how diverse this compilation is. Probably most of the other producers on here evolved into something completely different, gave up on music completely or just gained fame under another alias.
It took me ages to get hold of this one, but it well was worth "the quest"...

Various - Labyrinth Essential 001 - 02-Dec-06 08:19 AM
Incredibly solid mix-compilation of contemporary psy-progressive trance A.D.2006 . Most compilations of this style are aimed at the dj's , so you usually get 8 unmixed tracks. Not being a dj myself, I prefer to get nearly 2x as much great tracks mixed into one continuous flow.
The compilation is linked to the infamous Labyrinth Club in Zurich, Swiss, but these tunes will sound familiar to anybody whose into this style. A nice bonus are the unreleased tracks like "Avatar" by FREq.
Not a single bad track on here!

D-Nox & Tobias Bayer - Prooved Vol. 2 - 18-Nov-06 02:41 AM
One of the first progressive compilations that focused more on the house-side rather than trance. For me it was this one that introduced me to amazing artists like the 2 Flying Dutchmen Eelke Kleijn & Fitalic.
This is truly déép music: lengthy tracks, clever build-ups, atmospheric breaks & some vocals here & there. Variations in percussion & melodies make sure it doesn't get boring. It's catchy, but never cheap & the tracks keep getting better over time, revealing more details as time goes by. This style of progressive can be enjoyed in sweaty clubs, huge open-air dancefloors or just in your own living room or car.
Personal highlights would be tracks 2,3,4,5,6 & the fantastic & haunting closing track by Space Safari (again F.Beckers)

Careful: there is a mix-up in the tracklisting, # 4 & 5 got mixed-up. The track by D-Nox & Beckers is the one with the Ali G-sample in it!
