Various - Warp 10+3 Remixes
Dec 12, 2001
I'm not sure why this release is credited to Matador - I can only assume that's the American release - but the Warp 10+ series was all released through Warp in it's native UK.
Secondly, they aren't all remixed by Warp artists. Artists like Four Tet (previously Output, now Text), Andy Votel (Twisted Nerve) and Mogwai (Rock Action/Southpaw/Pias) are not Warp artists and never have been. The same goes for Stereolab and a few others. Finally, the whole Warp 10+ series has seminal artwork by The Designers Republic. I love my Designers Republic.

Unlike many first singles, Destiny (featuring Sia and Sophie Barker) manages to be accessible and chart oriented, while not being unrepresentative of the album as a whole.
The remixes offer a more interesting interpretation of the Zero 7 sound, however, with the somewhat uninspiring Balearic House remix by Photek, and the clever if underworked bass heavy remix by Roni Size. It's by no means essential for fans of Zero 7, Photek or Roni Size, but they are quite high profile collaborations, and it's nice to hear how the various genres intersplice. | ||||
Playgroup is his collaborative project, and therefore should be quite a varied blend of styles, from the funky Number 1.
Trevor Jackson has also enlisted some high grade help on the artistic front, which makes sense considering he started in music designing record sleeves. Not only do we have Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones on sleeve design, but Hi! Res on website duties and H5 (of Alex Gopher's The Child fame) doing the video for the first single... Number 1.
