Reviews & Discussion:
This tune is amazing. It really is top notch stuff from pixie James Holden. 'Kaern Turned' starts off nicely, with nice dreamy pads and then it kicks in really nicely. It gets better when the bass comes in, and then it turns into a techno rumbler. It just builds and builds and the percussion is top. A wicked tune from Holden which shows how talented this guy is.
I just absolutely love this tune. It is probably the most overplayed tune out of my entire collection of tunes. I love the way this tune switches from 4/4 to 3/4 and back and forth. I also love the gated reverb on the bassdrum, I love that sound. The percussion is nice to with it's 123 shuffle, and the 303 work is superb. The Arome mix is just sick. It's like the Original mix, only a bit twisted. This is a wicked tune by Scot Project, and I can't wait till I have this on vinyl.
This is a cracking update from the original, which is a classic. Kirsty is a fantastic vocalist, who if you hear a tune which features her singing, you know it's a belter. Unfortunately, the Mike Koglin mix does'nt satisfy me really because it is a bit too cheesy, though I will let him off I suppose because 'Enjoy The Silence' is a fantastic tune. And so the "Boy wonder of trance" James Holden does it again with nice deep beats, rumbling bass lines and some great vocal work. This is a top remix By Holden which puts him up there with his remix of 'Janeiro' which is another corker, and of course his own produce in the form of 'First Light' and 'Horizons'...
I used to hate when magazines and dance music 'know it all's refer Mauro Picotto as a hard house dj. When has Mauro ever been a hard house dj? honestly, he used to play Afro-house and Dream house yes, but never hard house. Anyway on to the CD. What a stomping mix this is, yes nearly all the tunes on it are by him or signed to BXR, but still a wicked selection of stomping techno and a little smidge of tech-trance. From the 3am and 5am mixes of 'Like This Like That' to 'Verdi', 'Baguette' to other stompers such as 'The Dance Of The Crazy Pill', 'Weltklang', 'Sturm Und Drang', the energy of the mix is maintained all through the cd. Not sure which one is the best tune out of the whole mix, but one of the tunes is 'Chicago' by Gabry Fasano. What a nice bit of thrashing techno. So in conclusion this is one of Mauro's finest pieces of work as well as his stomping 'The Others' album, but this is definitely a mix that will prove this guy is very talented!
I heard of Yoji a few years back when the late, great John Peel played the Nu-Skool Acid Techno remix of 'Go Mad'. And a while ago my bro TOMMY_BOY, bought one of his tune as Bionico on the 'Choci's Chewns' Label. Anyway, This is a stomping mix. CD1 kicks off the proceedings very well with 'History' by PSR Dream Team. Orion's Voice 'The Next Life' is a cracking tech-trancer, with nice solid beats. Technoboy's 'Tales From A Vinyl' is a corking tune, with nice techy beats and cool scratching type noises. On from Technoboy, the CD gets harder and harder. 'Tekknopumping is a thumper, and I love the transition into DJ Machine's 'I Wanna Rock'. Which is another banger. 'System' is typical Pedro Del Mar, 'Muzak' by Score Age kind of reminds me of 'Amphetamine'. Dunno why but it does. 'Take On Me' is one of the best tunes on this CD as well as 'Muzak'. CD2 is simply banging right from the start, starting off with 'Blackout by Lithium and then to the hard trance epic of Yoji's 'Never End'. His mix of 'Hands Up' is thrashing techno, and the techno edge continues with Silicon works, Diablo & Klitzing and Tom Wax's storming remix of 'Bloodangels'. After that, agin it gets harder and harder with Overdog, Piero Zeta & Manuel Es 'Warfare', which is a stomping piece of hardstyle. Then you have Global Cee Trance Generators with Yoji on the remix, and the at the end it winds down nicely with DJ Scot Project's 'Rock'. Yoji does make some cracking tunes and is a top remixer, and this CD just proves how talented this guy is!
John '00' whips up a tasty mixture of prog starting of nicely with the Sanctuary mix of 'Silence', then cd 1 continues the top tuneage with Matt Hardwick's cool tune 'Resistance'. Other top tunes on this first CD are 'X-Press 2's mix of Sister bliss' progalicious 'Deliver Me', also 'Moogwai's mix 'Love You Some More by 'Cevin Fisher'. Cracking tune I tell thee!. The best tune for me would have to 'James Holden's remix of 'Better Make Room. A classy prog trance Anthem. CD 2 kicks of superflously with 'Sasha's 'belfunk', which I can't stop playing and the breakdown is out of this world. 'Killahurtz' West On 27th is very dark and proggy with a nice tribally edge. 'Lostit.com's 'Animal' goes on a bit which makes it sound like a dull Goa trnce like tune, yet I can't Stand Goa trance I must Admit. The 'Astral Projection' mix of 'God Is A dj' is not really my bag either. But the final tune 'I Dream' by 'Tilt' is another tune which I can't stop playing. I have heard many tunes by 'Tilt' and this is a contender to me as being the best they have done. Another amazing Breakdow, plus the bit at the end before the CD fades out is just euphoric as hell. Blimey. So all in all this is a top notch Prog CD and I hate people when they slag off Proggressive house cos I think it sounds amazing, although I was too young to understand the early prog era when leftfield an co. were around. So if you dont have a copy of this, I suggest you do because I think it is worth spending money on. Unless of course you are Anti-Prog....
This cd is the best covermount mixmag have given out, apart from mauro picotto's 'rush hour' mix. This is agood mix from Mr.B, kicking off nicely with a couple of cracking tunes by himself. 'Electrofreek has some nice bass coupled with coo; atmospherics and heavy beats. 'Blue Eyeshadow' is a bit 'Blue Monday' with the beats like innit? The Concord Dawn Tunes are pretty heavy, as well as the C4C, Raiden, Kemal and Tech-Itch, and Klute's 'Tranceformat' is a corker. But the tune I can't stop playing is 'Severed Dreams by Teebee. What a tune! I really love and want this tune so much. The nice trancey pads are amazing coupled with cool beats and percussion.
all in all this is simply one cd that will be treasured for years to come. Trancin'!....
This is a very nice piece of plastic of Mr. Zenker banging out this cool tech-trancer. With Yoji Biomehanika on the remix on the flipside. Scot project's is nice and with a cool vocal, coupled with hard beats and a sick build-up. That bit before it kicks off.. STOMPING!. The Yoji mix is absolutely sick. A thumping techno workout nice ride cymbols and really nice bass. I love it when it comes in after the "just a second" and then it goes right off! The best release to have come from Scot project, apart from 'o' of course... | ||||
