M|A|R|R|S - Pump Up The Volume - 12-Nov-08 03:01 AM
I totally disagree with the other reviewer, first of all this is not a 70s/80s bridge as this is from 1987! House Music, Italo disco, new beat and Techno to name a few were strong at that time already.
Also, there´s nothing so revolutionaire about this release as everybody at that time were doing quite the same things with crazy samples and acid house. Bomb the Bass and Coldcut are good exemples and far better than this one hit wonder band.
Mod-it - Physical Fascination - 24-Jun-08 03:03 PM
Well, this one is very funny. The italian male and female vocalists speaks an horrible english. When they sing "Physical Fascination" is the best part. Ans maybe thats the reason for such rating 5/5 until now...It is very funny! The synths are very cheap here, but the song is nice! I´d never give it a 5/5, so i will not vote to keep this way... Try for yourself, its kind of easy to find its mp3. This is SO Hillarious!
Morane - The Trick - 19-Dec-07 05:22 PM
In my opinion this is the best Perlon record by far. Markus Nikolai aka Morane delivers some disco/funk and quirky elements over minimal house beats. The result is the ass shaker The trick.
Any version is awesome, but my fave is Think Away. When i heard it for the first time, on a record shop, i think: I Want this record! It was like a new world opening to me. I always keep serching more stuff in this style, but even Morane didn´t release anything like this. Think dark is more techy but also very very good, i played it a million times, and never got tired. None of the versions are really minimalistic, as things happens and changes a lot every second. The last track is more disco oriented, super freak and the vocalist show us all her skills. Perfect! 10/10 Wake up Morane! More of this please!
Savage - Time - 16-Nov-07 10:50 AM
One of the best tracks by savage in my opinion, before he turn to the prolific Robyx producer (for Double you, Ice mc, Conona, etc) Cheesy as his other hits "don´t cry tonight" and "only you" but less known and explored comercially. Don´t get me wrong, all his formula is still there, heavy intensiv vocals, slow-motion beats around 98 bpms, orchestral overmelodies, romantic lyrics, etc. A guitar and strange quirky effects completes the track. Of course Similar to his previous songs, but also it reminds me of Alphaville´s "Big In Japan" and Costas Charitodiplomenos "Lost in the night". In fact Robyx aka Roberto Zanneti aka Savage was a trend setter who created a completely new style with a huge amount of imitators and followers.
Persia - Persia - 25-Oct-07 10:02 AM
Inch by Inch is the one to look here. I confess i´m surprised that no one rate or review on this one. This is one of the best kept secret on disco music. Zell Black vocals are amazing and the power producion, guitars, basses, percursion, keyboards, everything is perfect here. Ive discovered this one by accident, searching on Casablanca catalog here at discogs, and since that i can´t stop listening to it.
It was included on the series "Choice - A Collection Of Classics", on Azuli Records, mixed by Derrick Carter.
Other songs are ok, in a regular disco funk format. But, Wait till you listen to Inch bt Inch. Pure Class. 10/10
