In the history of Abstract hip-hop / trip-hop, everybody know DJ Cam, DJ Krush, the Ninja Tune label, but REQ isn't as well-know, why... I don't know...I think this guy is the messiah of abstract hip-hop and smoked ambiances. I think it's the only one who really succeeds in showing the spirit of hip-hop culture, the only one who shares with us the spirit of hip-hop, graff, skate, and breakdance ambiances.
In the album, Razzamatazz and subculture are unbelievable...

I'm a fan of Skint records for years and for me, this label has made a revolution with his new sound, a sound which comes from nowhere, which come from the passion of guys which love electronik music, but rock and hip-hop too.
So, this label created the sound called Big beat. Funky breaks, house music, and a touch of hip-hop and rock, that's real big beat.
With the compilations On the floor at the boutique and brassic beats, skint show us the genius of the Big beat. U love elctronik music? those compilations are for you...you don' treally know electronik sounds but U love rock or hip-hop...on the floor and brassic beats are for you too. That's for this reason that "big beat" is for me a revolution.
Brassic beats volume two is, for me, the best brassic beat volume. It show you all thedifferent big beat sounds and ambiance. You begin with "Michael Jackson" by fatboy slim...pretty good. "Stigs in love" by midfield general is unbelievable, amazing : melancholy and bouncy in the same time, this track is a marvel. "Coz I can" is a fury agressive big beat track which make you feel crazy. " Post Punk progression " is very good too, with this track you can easily hear the perfect union between rock and breakbeat. All the tracks are good, so if you want to discover the real big beat sound, buy this !

Simply one of the best big beat/breakbeat band ever created.
The bassbin know how to make people dance and dream. Their music sounds like skint label tracks...so it's sounds very good. Just listen to vol 1 side 1 track 2.....a funky track with very good samples. For me they can enter in the legend of breakbeat music.

Skint is a fabulous Big Beat label...but this label has changed a lot, and now this is more a techno/house label with new artists like freq nasty,international pony or FC Kahunas. So,I'm disappointed. Where is the funky big beat sound of the past? with bentley rhythm ace,sparky lightbourne,cut la roc,or hardknox? Now damian had decided to follow the way of house music,but the house of the label is not very good in my opinion,in contrary of the big beat sound of the label which was fantastic.
1996-2001 : THE BEST BIG BEAT LABEL IN THE WORLD
2001-2004 : Just another House label like the others :-(
