CJ Bolland - The 4th Sign - 12-Aug-04 03:20 PM
Good all round album with varying styles from track to track, from the manic 'Thrust' and 'Spring Yard' to the more chilled out 'Camargue'. C J Bolland's style seems more experimental than that of Joey Beltram although they are both greats from the same stable and era. Another favourite from R.
Various - Sub Base For Your Face LP - 09-May-04 02:15 PM
Superb compilation of breakbeat/jungle tracks from an excellent label. Cost me a fair few quid but worth every penny.... Tracks 1,5,8 and 12 stand out with track 12 (Krome & Time's 'manic stampede') being the pick of the bunch - a hard, jumping track with a fantastic beat.....play it LOUD.
M.N.O. - God Of Abraham - 09-May-04 02:09 PM
Hard, fast, relentless techno from 1991 with definite 'Praga Khan' overtones (Maurice Engelen being one third of MNO). Memorble piece of music that stands the test of time.
Altern 8 - Full On .. Mask Hysteria - 18-Apr-04 03:49 PM
These can change hands for daft money so it took me a while to get hold of a mint copy for a decent price. Quality good length album of breakbeat/hardcore - anyone who has seen Altern-8 live will know what they're all about. Each track is well produced, loads of bass, samples and some tracks with vocals. My favourites are Infiltrate 202 (obviously), Frequency and Armageddon.
Egyptian Empire - The Horn Track - 10-Apr-04 01:36 AM
The one and only release (as far as i'm aware) under the name 'Egyptian Empire'. Cracking hardcore/breakbeat track from the early nineties that was guaranteed to bring the house down - as soon as you hear the horn sound its a 'hairs on the back of your neck' moment. Fast paced and with tons of bass, Track 1 is the better aurally although track 2 is easier to mix with. Great release.
