Makyo - Rasa Bhava - 21-Sep-09 10:15 PM
This is truly a fantastic album thats stood the test of time some 15 years later. I dont have much to add to the rave review already posted except that the 1995 version is actually pretty different than the 1996 release - same thing is true with (I think) his first three albums. Ive got "original" releases and then later ones downloaded from the Interweb (I own it, so I can legally download it, to save me the time of converting from CD -> FLAC/MP3/whatever) - and theres definitely differences - one of the three, not sure which (not this release though) is pretty much the same but the original is paced about 5-10 BPM faster (depending on the track.) Then again, it could just be Yet More Crap on the Interweb. In any case, the Dakani label has *never* put out a bad release, and Makyo continues to evolve yet still retains all the goodness of his early material. Truly one of the most brilliant musicians (as are all on Dakani) of the last and current century. And Im not prone to gushing.

Definitely not "Electronic" in category, but also definitely not their best, but oddly, its far better than ANY of their Kranky releases, and the tours before and after this release were their second (or third?) peak after "Market Square" and the best live shows of that year (and the ones before and after.) This 2xLP doesnt capture the magic of those live shows but its close enough to rate as one of their best releases in many, many years! Kudos!

While this is technically Christinas "first" solo LP, it was actually the fourth released, after the original recording tapes sat untouched for years, until restored, converted to digital and re-mastered by Rob Vaughn of The Sound-O-Mat studio. Over the course of a year, Rob worked with Christina to cull the best tracks from the original recordings, remix and restore them, and finally put together an LP that was finally released on Eclipse Records.
