Chrome (8) - Retro Transmission - 06-Jan-09 03:44 AM
Attention! Dont buy this album! Why? The master CD was ripped to make these copies, it was not done properly. There are digital flaws and skips throughout the entire album. Cleopatra has again messed things up! Excuse me, but do this label has any quality control? Buy the first issue instead!
The three bonus tracks are not necessery. They are probably from different live sessions. "Pigs on the Wing" is a completly different song by Pink Floyd. Unfortunatelly it sounds more like it wasnt even made by Chrome.
Thank you Cleopatra for another unprofessional work. :(
Vex'd - Degenerate - 30-Nov-08 06:29 AM
In the early days of Planet Mu I thought that this label would only copy IDM sounds of WARP Records, Rephlex or Skam. Unfortunately WARP went "Pop" by nearly releasing Alt.Rock stuff, Schematic and Skam nearly stopped releasing Music and Sublight declared their bankrupt in 2007. But Planet Mu survived by making a good change in the direction of Dubstep and Breakcore, two new styles whitch dominate the electronic music scene now in the second half of the 00s.
And here we have Vexd s Degenerate album. Once you put it into your CD player you cant stand still, you HAVE to dance. Enormous beats with the precision of Kraftwerk and the sharpness of Industrial. JUST great. In my opinion one of the best Dubstep albums with Burial and the latest afford of Meat Beat Manifesto ("Autoimmune").
Well, excuse me now. I have to repair my subwoofer.
Coil - Queens Of The Circulating Library - 23-Nov-08 06:45 PM
A very special release by COIL and maybe their warmest track up till today. Nearly 50 minutes of fine experimental ambient featuring Dorothy on vocals. Though its not a very much varied track, its very atmospheric. I would not say that "Queens of the Circulating Library" is only for hardcore Coil fans. And since the world of music does not end on Avantgarde/Neo Folk/Post Industrial/Noise/Experimental bands like Current 93, Nurse With Wound, The Legendary Pink Dots or Coil, I would recommend this release also for listeners of Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Tangerine Dream and similar.
Various - The Doom Generation - 23-Nov-08 06:30 PM
There is one big problem with the movies made by Gregg Araki: Either there is a soundtrack on CD but only half of the songs played in the movie are featured on it, or there is no soundtrack on CD. Unfortunatelly, because Mr.Araki (according to inteviews) has a big record collection and many of his favourite songs are featured in his movies. And he has got a good taste, a really ambivalent one: On one hand we have Industrial Music (mainly american Post Industrial Bands) on the other hand Alt.Rock-Dream Pop-Shoegaze Bands. Just like good and evil. A good introduction some important bands of the 90s.
Here is the full tracklist:
Nine Inch Nails - "Heresy" Babyland - "Double Coupon" Front 242 - "Religion (Pussywhipped Mix)" God Lives Underwater - "Drag Me Down" Slowdive - "Alison" Love and Rockets - "This Heaven" Coil - "First Dark Ride" Curve - "On The Wheel" The Wolfgang Press - "Christianity (The Adrian Sherwood Mix)" Porno For Pyros - "Dogs Rule The Night" Bigod 20 - "One (The Full-On Jack Dangers Mix)" MC 900 Ft. Jesus - "But If You Go" The Jesus & Mary Chain - "Sometimes Always" The Jesus & Mary Chain - "Penetration" Meat Beat Manifesto - "Soul Driver" Meat Beat Manifesto - "Paradise Now (Remix)" Ride - "Leave Them All Behind" Lush - "Undertow (The Spooky Mix)" Medicine - "Slut" Cocteau Twins - "Summerblink" Aphex Twin - "On" Pizzicato Five - "Groovy Is My Name" Extra Fancy - "Violator" Belly - "Dancing Gold" The Verve - "Already There" Slowdive - "Blue Skied An Clear"
23 Skidoo - 10-May-04 04:52 AM
One of these unique great early industrial groups. Mixing Industrial, Ambient, World Music, Funk , Hip-Hop and Dance, they established soundscapes and beats, which would later be know as Bigbeat or Breakbeat. FSOL and the Chemical Borthers sampled them. The Chemical Brothers would later get a Grammy for their track "Block Rockin Beats" which is mainly based on a sampled and ripped guitar-riff from 23 Skidoos track "Coup".
