Reviews & Discussion:
These CDs were sold at highschools in the '90s by kiddos husseling cds in the school yard. Fairly recently the person responsible for the production of these cds (and also the (in)famous 'Twilight' and 'Crazybites' software compilations) was convicted by a Dutch court.
One of my mottos is 'Keep your damn politics out of my music' but 'Time for a break' is a fantastic political track. Old skool styled funky English electro/breakbeakts with great lyrics and an even better chorus:
BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO DON'T GIVE IN TO THEM THEY JUST WANT TO SCREW YOU! wanna dance with us? Hell yeah!
First time I checked this record at the local store I put it back almost instantly. Way too fast (200+ bpm) noise tekno.
A couple of months later I was working on a mix of urban/hiphop with tekno records and concluded I needed more really fast tracks. I went back to the store bought this record. Until now I never finished the mix, but I play this record quite often; appart form the relentless banging it really rocks and swings in a way that will bring a big grin on your face and make you dance like an idiot. Futhermore, each track has an excellent tension curve.
Fuck Terrorism features samples taken from the 9-11 TV-reports. The track opens with a long break with a feaked-out girl trying to explain whats going on. The 'climax' of the track is a monstrous kickdrum against a background of screams of people jumping out of the towers' windows. This track will chill you to the bone, but I'm not suprised I never hear it on parties.
I was told the original lable artwork was the well-known image of the smoking twin towers but record industries refused to print it.
One of the most important acid records ever made in my opinion...Verrrry Unit Moebius. Contains spacetrip tracks like "the world goes round" (wonk-squeeeek) but also thumping techno-acid like 'beat that perculator' (woop-woop-weep-weep) and weird skip-and-jump pure acid pounders. Lotts of freaky voices, 808, 303, ms20, delays and reverb. | ||||
