Reviews & Discussion:

I couldn't agree more with the comment above. With so much publicity being credited to vocalized tracks, this one definitely demanded a spot? The intriguing combination of brooding basslines, hard dance beats and minimal percussion might turn the listener at first, but the presence of Julie Mays floating about simply melts this monster it something beautiful. It's also a perfect addition to many different sets like a hard house, progressive house, and even an ASOT mix... *wink*. Quality Record!
If you are looking for an actual revolution of the genre, this is it. This right here folks is one of the most prominent vinyls in dance music history! Whether it's the layers and layers of samples piling on top of each other, or simply the format in which it's all put together, the original is nothing short of epic. I can safely that I seldom find anything dubbed something like that, and actually lived up to it. Unfortunately, and out of the ordinary, Macaluso's remix doesn't fully deserve to hit the B side. Don't get me wrong, I dwell over remixes that are beat interpreted and feature gated hints of the original piece, but somehow the charm didn't quite pull through this time. The version is scaled down, which I had expected, but never to the point of reaching unrecognizable levels. This is all my opinion though. Other than that, Richie's best was worth every penny.
2009 has just begun and this will have to remain one of the best tracks this year! It's so awesome to find an extroadinary gem amongst all the shimmery trancers these days. Featuring the captivating voice of Penny Nixon, blending seemlessly with the soft aura Ben Bording has been so noted for, Serendipity will be hard to pause once it's been started. With the build up consisting of the common percussion, bassline and synth tools, one might expect to find themselves listening to a typical production. Then, as the first break enters and Ms. Nixon begins to sing, all is forgiven. At this point the art of seduction ultimately comes into affect. The track just floats there for a bit, dream-like, settling into us as we begin to expect something gorgeous to approach the ears, and then... well... that melodic synth fades in! By this time it's quite obvious what's going to happen. Like all trance tracks with happy endings, a bridge finds its way to the end, combining all the pieces to sum up a beautiful finale to enjoy forever (except this time Nixon is humming in the background). It doesn't end there though. Instead of concluding the track with only generic beats and other percussion, Bording leaves the listener a violin composition; to remind he or she that they've just experienced a truly epic journey and now it's time to dwel on what's left.

Oh wait, I forgot to talk about the other mixes... Haha!
I've been following Benya quite a bit lately and although Benjamin Bording's unique signature has become more profound, I never expected it to last. Whether or not this will be his peak (or his new single "Serendipity), it's definitely something to marvel at. Anyone can agree that it's pretty hard to browse through today's trance selection. So many tracks use the same REFX Nexus beats and synths with high-hats. Yes, Benya's productions may feature all of those tools, but how in the world can he make it sound so good? A nice addition to the Coldharbour Recordings!
A sikk compilation to say the least! To hear monsters like Zicky's "Follow Me" and the super-rare remix of Unix's "Wild Pleasure" would make anyone dwell for the next installment. There is one thing that's been bothering me a long time though. What is the track that John snuck into track 10 towards the end. After both, Kitikonti's and the club mixes finish, a perverted-hard-trancer fills in the gap between "Follow Me" and "Blast The Speakers." Does anyone know what it is?
Yeah... this was one of those WOW releases during its time! The original was OK, but the real gem here (as always) is Kaycee's remix. It is really too bad that Huntemann & Bodzin no longer mix under the alias; their beautiful tracks will be missed. If by chance you haven't heard the track and wish to, just take a listen to the version on Marc Et Claude's album "You Own The Sound."
Boca - Play With Me Jan 03, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Bodzin literaly tears up house clubs when his terrible attack on drum/bass enters the scene. The only way to get the full effect of his music is to turn it up... AND I MEAN LOUD!!! The Bellfire mix is a massive bassline track that emits Taiko's tirbal drums. With 8 minutes of those riding drums you are pretty much full afterwards. Simply superb! On the other hand... you have the Balls Mix. Just as disgusting as the song already is, Bodzin places a 'Balls' version that sounds so sick. The song completely takes out the tribal feeling and replaces itself with a nasty and outrages club melody. Both mixes are off the wall and a buyer is gaurenteed satisfaction from the Balls Mix... :P
Gigi D'Agostino - Underconstruction 1 Silence E.P. Jan 03, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Why in the world did he make this cd??? I admit if you are into some inspirational music from Gigi this is the cd you are looking for... but other than that it seems his music has become too commercial. What happened to the good stuff. The three best songs on this cd were "Silence" (of course... :P), Complex, and Ripassa. Mostly everyone has heard of Silence but when it came to Complex... WOW! The song is incredible with the lyrics. It's like 5 songs in one. And it never dies or never gets too boring. One of my favorites. I dont know though, nothing really beats Ripassa. The obscure vocals make it such an awesome song. I would not be afraid to show my friends this song even if they laugh. The fact is when the bass is up and you are in a bad mood the song serves it's purpose.
DuMonde - Never Look Back Jan 03, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
This is perhaps one of the most powerful tracks that DuMonde has ever made. The fact that the vocals are talking other than singing made it so intriguing. There really is only one thing wrong with DuMonde's songs and it's the fact that the remixes usually suck. I guess that's what makes the two so good. The whole cd is pretty basic... IT RULES! Those breathtaking vocals and DuMonde's trademark beat give you the urge to scream!!!
Kyau vs. Albert* Featuring Julie* - Not With You Dec 15, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I will agree that the duo's Hard Dub and the Original are well compiled but there is really only one track that made this cd extraordinary. Alex Odden (Flipside) has started his career in a quiet fashion and if it wasn't for this one single I probably would have never heard of him. His contribution to "Not With You" made me speechless and I will never give up the vibe that I have with the remix. After researching his mixes I have found that he creates a twisted story when he placing his signature to a song. Songs like "Satellite" by Oceanlab, "Dark Side Of The Moon" by Ernesto Vs. Bastian, and "Sculptured" by Calanit have all shown his true skill and taste in music. It's not like I don't admire Armin Van Buuren and DJ Tiesto it's just that their style is way to exagerated. There are times in life when you realize it's not just one big huge party and if you are someone like me you dwell, not on the good days, but the bad ones. That's why I find Odden's productions so fascinating because he does not express the obvious in a track. I don't think anyone could have expected the original and happy "Not With You" to turn into the downright mean "Not With You." This cd is worth every penny and I REALLY encourge everyone to buy it. Not a day goes past that I have regreted it.
