Reviews & Discussion:
In May 1994 the German technomag Stomp printed an interview with Simon Ellis. In this article he told the story about this production. He was jobless in England, so he decided to move to Düsseldorf to his uncle and Simon got a job in an advertisement company. Simon often visited the club Ratinger Hof that time in which Christian Linder played as the resident DJ. He went to him and asked about producing together. It took 4 months till Christian agreed to do it. After they made their first track "The Crave", they´ve put it on a DAT-tape and went to Frankfurt. There they joined the regular sunday morning afterhour at the Dorian Gray, Frankfurt Airport with DJ Dag as resident. They requested him to play the track in his set and after some seesaw he did it. One guy, who run the record store Embargo in Frankfurt, heard this track that morning and offered Simon and Christian to release it on his label Fucking Loud. Only 500 copies were pressed, the demand was much higher.
Brilliant early trance track by Dag Lerner & Rolf Ellmer.Dag and Rolf were inspired by the small plaque, which read, 'Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon, July, 1969 AD. We came in peace for all mankind'. This plaque was left by the first men Neill Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin on the moon in July 1969.
Krankenhaus is one of my all-time hardcore favourites. An awesome slammer produced with the legendaray Amiga Commodere Computer as all productions by Jan Pravda.I believe this track is still the most played track on a MAYDAY rave in Germany. At the Party on 30th April 1994 in Dortmund, Germany several DJ´s played the tune, cause his minimal but very effective sounds kicked the crowd better than every other track at this time - at least you heard it 8 times! Former record track were Meng Syndicate with Sonar System, which was played 6 times.
Energy 52 - Café Del Mar (Remixes)
Dec 07, 2003
There were and are so many Cafe Del Mar remixes out there, but the only one in my opinion is Ralf Hildenbeutels masterpiece. Three`n Ones remix is, comparing to Ralf´s work, bullshit. Slow tempo, cheesy housey tunes - it completely lost the superb feeling of the original. I didn´t liked 1997 at the first moment i´ve heard it.The best remixes in common were made weeks and months near the original release and not years later, when the remix sounds as a lot of the productions coming out at that time. I believe this cd is the only one containing that remix. For some collectors maybe sad, that this isn´t the typical green / violett EYE Q cover, but if you see it - BUY it!
Mental Generation - Cafe Del Mar

I heard that track first time early summer 1993 in a radio show at german radio HR3 called "Maxi Mix" played by Torsten Fenslau. The fantastic melody and the groove caught me immediately. One of the best chill-out anthems ever in my opinion. It was a great feeling to hear the tune years after i explored him enjoying the sunset at Cafe Del Mar, San Antonio.
Overlords, The - God's Eye

The Bionizer Remix of this track is an awesome goa-prog-trance burner. A fantastic melody, bringing me back the good old trance feeling i had throughout 1993. One of my all-time favourites. In November 1994 german DJ-Legend Marc Spoon (Jam & Spoon) said in a live radio-mixshow (HR3-Clubnight) as he began to play the tune: "Overlords - Gods eye on goa, the 12" of the year!" Nothing to add from my side.
A fantastic compilation! Tunes were choosed by Jürgen Laarmann & Karin Kruse, both from the legendary technomag "Frontpage". No fillers, only real old goodies from legends like Joey Beltram, Richie Hawtin, G.T.O., Moby, Ramirez or Frank De Wulf.Cd was released 1994 - a time, as a lot of todays twens had their first experience with a musci called "techno". I belive it was the first Retro-CD in germany, rare tunes, mostly the first time on CD. The booklet contains short, very stylish comments (4 to 5 sentences) about every track on the cd written by Jürgen Laarmann. If you somewhere see the CD, pick it up! Pure Techno-History - maybe not for the kids today, but for all guys starting with techno 1990!
Right in the Night was the first release of Jam & Spoon with the intention to have a more commercial track (Right in the Night) on the A-Side and a more clubby tune (Follow Me) on the B-Side. Follow Me was a huge clubhit in germany.Similar happens to their tunes Odysee to Anyoona and Can you feel it. Nevertheless the quality of the so called commercial trax by Jam & Spoon was way above comparing to similar tunes at this time.

Among the labels were Eye Q records and FAX. Eye Q wasn´t interested, but he got a phone call from the FAX A&R manager. He liked the stuff and offered Simon to release a 12" and additionally he should produce 6 tracks more, so they could release an album on CD, too.
The Houdini album was the most succesfull release on FAX from a commerical point of view.
