Houdini - Houdini - 13-Nov-06 02:03 AM
Braincloud is a fantastic track. It was big at raves in Melbourne around 1995-96. I actually heard this at my first rave and the tune was still in my head the next day. A real underground dance gem, released shortly before progressive trance went mainstream.

The track begins with some sweeping synth-strings and some nice vocal sampling of Bjork. Then the main hook begins, followed by the bassline, and your journey is underway. After the first breakdown, the melody takes you deeper and there are one or two chord changes that are just divine.

The great thing about this track is that it isn't overdone. It's perfectly built up, with just the right touches in just the right places. Also, considering the era in which this track was produced, the instruments are masterfully tuned. This should sound futuristic for years to come.

The other tracks on the EP are also of a very high quality. Considering how rare it is, snap this up immediately if you get the chance!

The track Q is a pure old-school rave classic. Synth and high-frequencies give it a beautiful, futuristic feel, which still sounds fresh today. Also, some wigged out work on the drum machine makes it perfect to dance to.

UNTOUCHABLE.

Contains the album version of In White Rooms, which is the best version of this killer track in my opinion, and not found on either Vinyl One or Vinyl Two.

Minimal house with a heavy beat and clicks to keep you moving. A combination of soft vocals and a nice modern disco tip builds the track up to create one of the finest moments of dance music in 2006. Awesome.

The Flutlicht vs. S.H.O.K.K. remix is a legendary hard trance number. The first part of the track is fairly good, with some nice vocals and melody. Then there is the build up, which is a bit over the top for my liking. But once the main section of the track kicks in, it just explodes. This one will rock your socks!!

Ellen Allien & Apparat - Orchestra Of Bubbles - 08-Sep-06 08:00 AM
This album represents a coming together of 2 very talented artists. Allien takes a break from her usual minimal/trippy techno sounds and combines with Apparat, a technical genius, to produce a quality album that ranges from down-tempo to futuristic disco, while maintaining its overall experimental feel. Very highly recommended.
