Kenny Dixon Jr. - Should've Known - 26-Oct-04 08:51 PM
This release is like film noir to me - mysterious, paradox and dark. the A-side is a touchful and moody re-edit of a Mario Winans' album interlude track "Already Know", where KDJ adds his wonderful deep, jazzy beat-architecture and you get witness of a woman making love while her husband calls. B-Side is a short but quite special bossa nova tune with the mann himself speaking in dialogue as two charakters ... very unique music from a very unique artist.

Theo Parrish - Parallel Dimensions - 05-Oct-04 09:51 AM
Essential original vinyl release of Theo Parrish's first album, was rereleased in 2004 on Ubiquity on CD and 2x12" with different tracklisting and some other mixes. 'What U Cry 4' and 'Dreamers Blues' are missing completely on the 2004 vinyl version, it's a pity cause they're great and have the typical Theo signature: abstract, funky, beautiful, groovy and deep

Andrés - Untitled - 03-Oct-04 07:51 AM
Andrés is DJ DEZ from Slum Village and this one is definetely my favourite release of him ... funky tracks with summer-attitude and hiphouse-feel, elegant und fresh. Some tracks from here can also be found on the Mahogani Music M-5 Andrés LP in slightly different versions.

Theo Parrish - Took Me All The Way Back - 03-Oct-04 01:11 AM
Fantastic piece of music by Mr. Theodore Parrish from 1997 which is harder and even more raw then his other material ... pretty voodoo. The sample 'Took Me All The Way Back' marches with an intense bassdrum and hypnotic piano on and on and on and on...

Moodymann - Untitled - 07-Aug-04 03:20 PM
Absolutely fantastic and essential KDJ+Moodymann stuff! I see this 12" as ONE long track with one 'extended break in the title track' (like peacefrog advertised on his Telephone-Blue EP) ... both pieces fit so perfectly together that you really can play the whole side ... this release has everything KDJ stands for: groovy deep ryhthms, gospel feel, suprising changes, perfect samples, superb claps, proper tech-abstractness, the mysterious release touch and the mann himself talking over.
also it's the first release on KDJ with really new tracks since Kenny Dixon Jr. started his Mahogani Music label ... if you like his stuff you'll love that one!

'eeey now - we're partying ...'
