Reviews & Discussion:
To me Com.a is one of the most interesting and advanced artists in current electronic music. His tracks are very well produced and complex and they reach an incredible intensity. In most cases Com.a is combining lots of different kinds of sounds and samples with phat and / or abstract beats that can be really catchy and hiphop-esque or completely weird and ultra cut-up as well. Other tunes surprise with much straighter beats and beautiful 8bit-style electro melodies or experimental ambiences... i don´t want to downgrade this by categorizing it, but all in all i would call it some kind of strange and funky alien tech breakstep hop that should be recommended to every fan of sophisticated electronicae like (for example) Eight Frozen Modules.

i beg to differ - if you´re a prefuse73-fan this doesn´t automatically mean you´re going to like this one... most tracks sound much more like a very modern and absolute merciless deconstruction of oldkool NWA-like gangsta-hiphop - very noisy, breaky, distorted and all fucked-up. nevertheless there are 2 or 3 tracks on it that really rock as hell; the last few tracks (12 -14) are also interesting because they´re a bit softer than the rest (but also very experimental).
all in all i must agree that this is an excellent product, but be prepared to find a lot of really f*ckin´ hard stuff on it.
Young Gods, The - The Young Gods
Feb 06, 2004
This is the first Young Gods LP and to me it is their most innovative. I never found aything sounding familiar to this (except their second album) and was very impressed by the upbuilding atmospheric soundscapes of tracks like "si tu gardes" or "feu" (maybe the most "conventional industrial-style" - track on this album). they remind me of the air´s consistence before an electrical storm is coming down. "Did You miss Me" might be a kind of the albums hit-single (if this would consist any kind of common / commercial music) and is a must-hear in unconventional avantgarde-style sounds. Later Releases never reached the spirit of these early experiments- the young gods became just another (or: the swiss) industrial-bands, but back there in 1987 they were true pioneers.
