Prodigy, The - Smack My Bitch Up - 10-Oct-05 10:00 PM
Actually the reason this never saw the light of day is not because Liam Howlett doesnt like house music - it was because Slacker left XL Recordings around the time this remix was made and there were legal issues over who actually owned the rights to the remix. Also only one side of this release is the proper Slacker remix, the other side is a bootleg remix of the Slacker remix!!
Prodigy, The - Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned - 21-Sep-04 10:21 AM
although this album may not be liam's best work i don't know why everyone is slagging it off so much!?!? i think after fat of the land being so popular everyone assumed that liam would make an album for the masses that was accessible to the majority of people - well, he didn't!! and i think that's a good thing. before the success of fat of the land, the prodigy were more of an underground band making music they liked and not giving a f*** what anyone else thought. i think they've gone back to that now - liam is again making music for himself and no one else, and that is why alot of people out there don't like it - they were expecting fat of the land 2. to all those of you who didn't really like this album, don't fret: there is talk around that liam is thinking of making a rarities and b-sides album and he has said in various interviews that he wants there to be a fifth and sixth prodigy album!! i think he needed time to get his s*** together and work out what he wanted to be doing without outside influences. so if the variation of their previous albums are anything to go by i think the fifth and sixth albums will be very different to this one and maybe more people will like them. i also think that keith and maxim will be involved more in the music (providing vocals, etc) in the future.
anyway, good album, i like most of the tracks on here and there are some awesome collabs, but not liams best work though...
Fatboy Slim - Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars - 20-Sep-01 02:40 PM
Another great artist sells his soul to house music. So many good producers seem to be jumping on the house bandwagon lately... I think Fatboy Slim should stay true to himself and keep doing what he's best at: Big Beat!!! Even though the big beat scene seems to have a died a natural death. Not his best work, but still some killer trax (Star 69, Mad Flava, Ya Mama...).
Smith & Mighty - DJ-Kicks - 20-Sep-01 02:40 PM
Maybe the mixing isnt this album isnt top notch, but the tracks that are used are all wicked. these guys like to keep things close to home - all the tracks in their mix are from bristol!! this mix comes highly recommended
Smith & Mighty - 19-Sep-01 05:30 PM
The original dub masters!! These guys made dub music wot it is today, pioneering wot they call "the bristol sound". they've worked with alot of the big dub names including Massive Attack. Not really very well known because of record label troubles that stopped them releasing much for 5 years!! also record as More Rockers and Jaz Klash.
