Move D / Namlook - Move D / Namlook XIII: Raumland Exploration - 04-Dec-07 11:57 AM
Move D and Namlook at their best. A very different album of what they did before - that is to say, the best.
All starts slowly and the tension gradually builds up. The rhythm comes in and a wonderful trip begins. Some distorted voices in English and German... After 15 minutes we pass to the second track. "Space and time in jazz" - says Move D (as I suppose). Yes, they create space and time of their sounds... Once again the rhythm crawls in. But is it jazz? Some strange things happen in the background... And then you know: it is ambient of incomparable quality. Some voices come from behind... Yes, this is track no. 3 starting. The best of the album. "We must begin to understand ourselves and each other..." if I recognize well. But can we understand what is happening in this music? Nevermind, let it play... The rhythm changes and we can start to pass to the last part. Some 22 minutes and it's all finished. But I will play it again soon. Or right away?

Fires Of Ork, The - The Fires Of Ork 2 - 31-May-06 11:05 AM
While the first Fires of Ork was very impressive, this one is simply beautiful. Starts with Biospher-ish "In Heaven", the title speaks for itself. The best on the album imho. Then we've got dark, minimal "When the Night...", something to listen to in the night, in the wintertime... Then we come back to ambient soundscapes of "Sky Lounge", again feeling that it was Jenssen who did it. For the fourth track you have to focus your mind - once more some minimalism there... And the last track, the longest, maybe made with (by?) some new machines, is a little bit comeback of the old days, maybe of the first "Fires...". Hope they will meet again for a third album of such importance for ambient music.

Biosphere - Patashnik - 27-May-06 03:01 AM
A semi-trance, semi-ambient cosmic journey through Geir Jenssen's soundscapes. This was the first of Biosphere I've known and still is very dear for me. Great movie samples in English and Russian give me a "space-station" feeling in some moments. I have to say that this album is a bit uneven and I prefer the ambient "side", which later became Jenssen's speciality. Anyway, a great album to start your acquaintance with ambient in general and Biosphere in particular. And once you've fallen in love with that music, it stays with you...

Gescom - Key Nell - 18-Apr-06 06:44 PM
One of the finest of Gescom. The tracks are developing slowly to take the listener to this strange world of Booth/Brown et al. And when they end, one can only regret it was so short... I would call it the "autechriest" of Gescom, maybe that's why it is so good. First two tracks are my favourites here.

Biosphere - Substrata - 14-Aug-05 03:26 AM
Surely a wonderful album, especially when listened as a whole. For me the best part is "Hyperborea" and "Kobresia" with the spoken stuff - first in English, then in Russian. Gives me thrills when listened on a walkman in a dark room. Maybe the best of Biosphere.
