Venetian Snares - Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972 - 2006 - 29-Apr-08 07:33 AM
This release is an absolute masterpice of electronic music. It has harsh amened out beats in odd time signatures that Snares is renowned for, but with a more IDM feel than previous releases in my opinion. There is even a pair of downtempo tracks which showcase an entirely different side of Aaron Funk. The record is a testament to VSnares' production prowess, his stunning originality, and his ability to incorporate a vast array of styles and genres into one cohesive whole. A classic that will make it into the history books for sure.
Venetian Snares - A Giant Alien Force More Violent & Sick Than Anything You Can Imagine - 29-Apr-08 07:17 AM
This track, from the buildup to the end, is truly some of the most violent and sick music ever produced. At the same time, it is extremely sophisticated, well planned, and marvelously executed. This is in sharp contrast to much of Snares' contemporaries who prefer to pummel the listener with sped up amens and noise without much regard for anything else. In my opinion, Snares has actually produced more violent and sick tracks on other releases (Making Orange Things in pareticular), but this is still one of his most brilliant moments out of an incredibly prolific body of output.
Venetian Snares - Doll Doll Doll - 29-Apr-08 07:03 AM
When I first heard this I came extremely close to wetting myself. Like many people at the time (I think it was late 2002) I had never heard anything like it before. Although stuff on Digital Hardcore hinted that such madness is possible, this was a leap from that. The Jon Benet Ramsey information line sample is one of the most demented samples ever used in electronic music. Without a doubt this 12" occupies a very important place in breakcore history, and this will become more and more apparent as the years pass.
