Odyssey (2) - Together / Native New Yorker - 12-Jul-07 02:26 AM
Worth searching out for the extended version of this Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards masterpiece. I don't know if it is official Chic Organization release, but the strange dubby groove (much like later Chic) and the slinky organ mark this track out as one of the 4 or 5 best Odyssey tracks. You can get a version of the track on the decent LP which also has the classic Inside Out on it.
Strike One - Can't Touch Me Anymore - 10-Jan-05 02:24 AM
sweet post disco tune in a laidback style and tempo, not unlike unlimited touch in its use of synth bass and little synth riffs embellishing the tune. Relaxed female vocal as well. (suiting the songs message - a girl moving on from a relationship, enjoying her dancing and grooving and the 80s zeitgeist :) )
Aavikko - Derek! - 12-Jan-04 12:44 PM
Great computer game meets Finnish tango meets Kraftwerk and they all go on 2 minute excursions of mayhem and catchy breaks all in a punky distorted stylee. Great band live too.
"P" Crew, The* - Busy Body - 12-Jan-04 12:36 PM
A vocoder-heavy electro track with nice drum machine sound, and squelchy bass and an overall interesting piece of twisting funk. No cheesey breaks in it at all, just a nice groove, which changes slightly and constantly as the track progresses.
