Various - X-Static Volume Two - Back To Basics - 18-Jul-08 07:21 AM
A nice disc of early house and electronic stuff. The real selling point of this disc for me is the copy of Dragon Fly's 'Visions of Rage' (original mix). This track is an absolute classic rave and warehouse track from back in the early days of dance music (1991). It is a proper belter and builds with lovely intensity at the start, a lovely rolling base groove and cool key stabs make this track one to remember. Proof that you didn't always need fierce hoovers to rock the dancefloors of warehouse parties. Have a listen and love it.
Egma - Don't Have To Be Jesus - 10-May-08 02:57 AM
Well, what can i say, probably the most fierce of the 1992 hardcore rave tunes that did the rounds in a few DJs flightcases at the time. One of the top flight that played this repeatedly was Easygroove. The track features a nice sample of You Don't Have To Be Jesus, accompanied by an intense female vocal scream. The main rif is super serious hoovering which leaves almost all other hoover oriented tracks in the shade. If you've not heard the track have a listen online, it can be found with a google. Really top class old skool hardcore from Rotterdam.
T-Empo - The Blue Room - 12-Apr-08 08:05 AM
Oh yes. Not much else to say other than i'm pretty sure a lot of people had their hands in the air for this track through the years. Another from the halcyon days of the house music and UK club scene in 1996. A proper belter, again if you've never heard it, try and find an mp3, then buy the original here as it seems to be getting given away for your peanuts. If you like piano driven uplifting trance music with some launching female vocals, look no further this track puts all others into the shade.
Man With No Name - Floor-Essence - 12-Apr-08 07:59 AM
If you have never heard this tune, i recommend that you buy it. It is one of the more seminal tracks of the trance genre. Chances are you heard it first on the Paul Oakenfold essential mix from 1993, referred to by Pete Tong as the 'Trance-tastic Essential mix'. It is a well measured floor filler, and is a superb piece of music. A super distictive lead riff and intro bell, which has been ripped off on a couple of occasions since like most original big tracks.
Blue Amazon - No Other Love - 12-Apr-08 07:52 AM
Well, what can i say? Probably one of my favourite tracks from the 90s house scene. Properly all round good track. Blue Amazon were the 1995-6 stars of the progressive house genre. Their trademark sound of good solid baselines, quality synth stabs and nice acid backdrops were very well crafted. I met them at The Tunnel in Glasgow during 1996, which i reckon was probably the peak of the prog house era, and they rocked the place with this and other cracking efforts of epic acid driven vocal house. Top notch guys, well done.
