Biz Markie - Studda Step - 01-Sep-08 05:17 AM
Very chilled and jazzy change for the man known as Biz Markie.
Many Bootlegs of this exist, so if you are after the bonafied original then you should chack for "XSS 8220 HFM 96 CG" etched in the runout. Very often, around 99% of the time, when I come across this, its actually the bootleg. Most of the boots are easily identifiable by poor label scans, different etching, and most importantly of all, inferior sound quality.
The original pressing is very very clean.
This isnt the kind of classic 80s style Biz Markie ripped out in the late 80s, more of the kind of wax to play in a lounge or for chillin out to.

DJ Godfather & DJ Starski - D.E.T. Only 009 - 23-Jun-08 07:47 AM
DJ Godfather polishes his usually raw sounding ghetto tech stylings brushing up some classics, in fact just really re-editing them, to breathe some new life into them. A1 is heavily based on the 1980 Electro/Italo-Disco classic "Im Ready" by Kano B1 is heavily based on the 1992 UK hardcore piano classic A1 is heavily based on "Positive Feedback" by Cleptomaniacs "Ghetto Style DJs" is a pure filler. However, the first 2 tracks will work any floor pretty hard, and are well recommended, especially if you want to cross over from italo-disco or hardcore to a more current sound, be it ghetto tech, house or techno/electro alike.
36Zero - Maintain - 10-May-08 08:19 PM
All three tracks are produced by Troubleneck Brothers. Released in the mid 90s, quite soon after their "Back To The Hip Hop" and "Release Me" 12" releases. This record was put out on 862 Records under 36 zero due to some kind off label issues, falling out so to speak. It features three tracks, all of which are very dope.
Both the cuts "maintain" and "Lyrically Jason" (sampling the famous Big Daddy Kanes RAW) are very very nice, quite easily the best TNB release from my point of view.
Kings Of Swing - Stop Jockin' James / Microphone Junkie - 10-May-08 01:52 AM
This is a very underrated NY hiphop joint from back in 1988. Classic James Brown loops and horn samples, not to mention the tight lyrics. The production and scratching on this record are top notch, too. If you are into all the rare Paul C stuff that goes for incredible $, save a few and pick this up while the prices are very reasonable! Dont sleep on anything like this which still sounds fresh after 20 years.
