DJ Shadow - Endtroducing... - 25-Feb-07 12:19 PM
I've been listening to this album for nearly 10 years now and it still sounds fresh and exciting every time I listen to it. Changeling is my favourite piece on the album because it starts with a slow keyboard sample before going into a deep bass and drum rhythm and just as I'm feeling relaxed, the most melancholy and uplifting guitar riff starts to play over the top. Other highlights are "Mutual Slump" with its Björk "Possibly Maybe" sample and "Midnight In A Perfect World." A truly stunning album.
Coldcut - 70 Minutes Of Madness - 19-Feb-07 06:54 PM
This really is one of the best CD's in my collection. (It really is that good!) The mix starts with a brooding rhythim before going into some deep amens courtesy of The Truper (aka Photek) and swifly moves from breaks, (Plastikman, Coldcut) to Hip Hop, (BDP) and into some luscious female vocals (Joanna Law). All with some of the best samples and scratches thrown in along the way. Just one word of warning. Don't try and track these records down as most of them won't sound as good as they do on here. (My personal opinion of course) Absolutely Essential.
Grooverider - The Prototype Years - 24-Jan-07 02:51 PM
This is a superb album, we know about "silver blade" but my personal highlight is the John B. track "secrets." I believe this to be his debut on 12" and what a start to a career which has spanned almost all corners and sub genre's of the drum and bass spectrum.
An essential album for the drum and bass faithful.
Various - V Classic - 16-Jan-07 12:48 AM
Massively collectable album mainly due to the inclusion of Roni Size & DJ Die's "It's Jazzy" and Scorpio's "Li Li" - The former ("Li Li") is not available on vinyl anywhere else, and is one of the best examples of Jump Up Jungle you are ever going to hear (Plus a dream to mix with). Anyone into any kind of Jungle or Drum and Bass needs to own this.
Breakage - This Too Shall Pass - 12-Jun-06 06:47 AM
Awesome LP. And yes I am a major fan of his previous material, This came as a breath of fresh air. To me it's still a heavy album, but more distant and slightly more relaxed than his other stuff. Untitled Jungle is one of the best drum and bass tracks of recent years. (i say this after i first heard it on promo, and, after many months of listening). Superb album.
