Clatterbox - Destination London - 12-Sep-07 04:04 PM
One of the greatest surprises this year: cheap records from vienna are back with this fine selection of downtempo electro from Clatterbox! Is this first sign of life after two years (and a series of, hm, questionable releases before) the long awaited relaunch? Even though the four tracks have been been produced years ago, they still sound fresh today and remind of both the artist's and the label's great days in the mid-90ies. So the first step is done, please guys go on like that!!!
Dakar & Grinser - There Ain't No Turnin' Back - 03-Jan-07 12:55 PM
One of the best records I own! I think it's a shame that Dakar & Grinser didn't stick with the warm and jazzy, yet electroid house like this. They exchanged it for "Electroclash" and the retro-disco thing which was a hype and seems hopefully to be over. But this record is timeless and fits in any house set.

Wighnomy Bros.* - Speicher 19 - 18-Nov-06 02:17 AM
I think this is a exceptional release of the 'Speicher' series, because both sides feature a dub-style techno, that could be associated more to Berlin's Basic Channel. The A-side reminds me of Maurizio's classic 'Domina'. Also the Wighnomy Brothers don't present their usual clicks & cuts and concentrate on a deep bass and warm soundscapes. This record is really worth checking out for everyone who likes dubby techno - as well as many other releases on Kompakt!
