Profile: Hello, people, this is your friend, Matt. I'm here to sell you some pretty decent records from all over the damn place. I've got a weird collection, and I'll be adding things on a pretty consistent basis. I've been collecting for a long time, and I've been selling my records on ebay for the past ten years. Perhaps you bought something from me in the past (my eBay names were "Vanderbun", and later "The Drunken Cracker"). I'm really tired of eBay's bullshit, and by the look of it so are you! I'm going to be listing some decent stuff in the next few months, so come on by and check it out. If you have a question please let me know.
Ask me about shipping prices should you have any.
Please make paypal payments to: furio222@yahoo.com. I also accept payments via money order, in fact, I encourage them! No checks.
Keep in mind that if I don't receive payment within 7 days of an order I will relist the item and leave appropriate feedback. Don't make me waste my time by reminding you to pay!
I do not accept offers. My records are priced accordingly.

Reviews & Discussion:

I think Dexterfeng's review of this is a bit harsh. This record is a bit of a DJ tool, but isn't that the case for every Villalobos release? What makes Villalobos a cut above the rest is that he can make a DJ tool record, but still make it listenable outside of the club. 'Amazodrum' isn't any worse or better than his last few releases. It features a cool synth-line floating in and out throughout the track, and has that very satisfying kick to the snare that Villalobos is so good at. Of course it's monotonous, but you know this will be the case before you even slap it on the turntable. If I had a complaint it would be directed toward the Baby Ford mix which barely deviates from the original version. I typically love Baby Ford, but he takes the best parts of the original (the kick and the synth-line) and attempts to change the more straight-ahead original with a sampled loop and shuffle beat. He tries to strip down something that is already stripped to the bone and it doesn't quite work. Having said that, the Villalobos original is another quality slab of electronic booty-shaking goodness. Get it!

I'm glad to see that this album is collectible now because it was and still is an extremely solid piece of electronic music. I bought the record back in 1993, though I wouldn't recommend tracking the vinyl version down. It seems to change for a lot of money now, but the sound quality on the vinyl is horrible. I used to play it in some of my mix sets back when it was new, but there is so much music crammed on to one side of vinyl that it just sounded bad. That aside, the music still stands up today. The reason I bought this was because of Greg Roberts (I was a Big Audio Dynamite fan), and I was truly surprised at the deepness and professionalism of the album. Strong beats, great samples, meaty bass lines, and haunting melodies. It was their only good album, and definitely worth seeking out.
This is absolutely fantastic. You spend years listening to decent electronic music, and then something like this comes along and you demand more from everyone else. To my ears, there is no doubt this is Richard James, but who knows. All the trademark Aphex-isms are there: immaculate structuring and production, great melodies, and innovative synth work. It's hard to describe what it sounds like, but isn't that why we all love Aphex? This record takes elements for every album he's ever done and mixes it all up into a potent sonic stew. Even if this isn't Aphex Twin, I highly recommend this to anyone!
I'm with Minky on this one. This record just plain sucks. I'm a huge KLF and Villalobos fan, so the fact this record is so boring and uninspired makes it all the more difficult to listen to. It shares absolutely none of the energy or force of the original. I've never needed remixes to sound completely faithful to the original, but when you remix the KLF you should definitely step it up a notch and do something special. After listening to these mixes I was left to wonder if Villalobos had ever even heard the original track! Obviously, you can't blame the KLF for this, the failure is surely that of Villalobos. By far his worst effort to date.
