Sigur Rós - Von Brigði - 09-Jul-03 11:25 AM
The last track of this album is interesting for more than one reason. It started out as a remix of a song from the bands first album (Von) but ended up being reworked so much that its like a whole new composition altogether. The remix is credited to the band although I think it was mostly done by Jónsi (the singer). This is also the only known remix by Sigur Rós and their only song that can be classified as drum & bass. It was the only song from this album that recieved air-time on local radio stations.

Autechre - Amber - 03-May-03 03:44 AM
AllyKarate asks where the picture on the cover is from. From what Ive heard, its not a picture of a real place. Supposedly it is an image create with a random landscape generator software package, like AltaVista or something. This kind of software was quite popular at the dawn of the graphical revolution in computer technology at the beginning of the last decade.

Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun - 20-Apr-03 07:41 PM
Translation/explanation of the track titles:
Svefn-g-englar = Sleepwalkers, but if you drop the -g- in the middle it changes to Sleep angels; Starálfur = Staring elf; Flugufrelsarinn = The liberator of flies; Ný batterí = New batteries; Hjartað hamast = The heart is pounding; Viðrar vel til loftárása = Good weather for airstrikes, words that were actually spoken by an icelandic TV weatherman during the first gulf-war; Olsen olsen is the name of a popular cardgame; Ágætis byrjun = A pretty good start.

Sigur Rós - Ný Batterí - 20-Apr-03 07:28 PM
Rafmagnið búið (English: Out of electricity), appears to be a remix of the brass sections from Ný Batterí and serves as an elongated intro for the title track.
Bíum bíum bambaló is a cover version of an ancient icelandic folk song / nursery rhyme.
Dánarfregnir og jarðarfarir is a cover version of a tune that the icelandic national broadcasting service uses as an intro for death and funeral announcements.
Tracks #3 and #4 were used in the film Angels of the universe and are also avilable on the soundtrack album for the film, released on FatCat.

Sigur Rós - Von - 18-Apr-03 10:16 AM
The following is a translation/explanation of the track titles: Sigur Rós = the name of the band, and also the name of singer Jónsis little sister; Dögun = dawn; Hún jörð = She earth; Leit að lífi = Search for life; Myrkur = darkness; 18 sekúndur fyrir sólarupprás = 18 seconds before sunrise, also the name of the bands UK website; Hafssól = ocean sun; Veröld ný og óð = mad new world; Von = hope; Mistur = mist; Syndir Guðs (Opinberun frelsarans) = the sins of God (revelation of the messiah); Rukrym = myrkur spelled backwards.
