Started my music-liking days listening to my mom's Led Zeppelin back in 80-something, then moved into synthpop (A-Ha was my favorite band, I saw them live when I was 8-and-a--half) and Pet Shop Boys, KLF, Communards, Ultravox...and also Poison and some Mötley Crüe. Then I slowly progressed into softcore, then hardcore. I fell in love with early UK old skool hardcore and started buying records (Rufige Cru replaced Mötley Crüe). Then later jungle/darkcore/d'n'b, etc, but kinda gave up on all the new stuff around '96. I do love Mu-Ziq (Mike Paradinas) and Squarepusher, and Wagon Christ (and all of Luke Vibert's alter egos), folk-y stuff, and a bunch of other things, but I kept listening to the old records. I also got into hip hop, but I've focused on the golden age, which for me is '89-'93.
I seem to be stuck in the years between 1976 and 1993, and I love it. My latest passion has been re-discovering disco (and some boogie) and Italo, Hi-NRG, and a bunch of house, and missing not having all my well-cared-for old skool hardcore (a.k.a. 'ardkore) collection by my side.
I've always been a huge sucker for borderline cheesyness (the songs which stays on the good side), and artists who (dare to) wear their heart on their sleeves. Honest stuff, you know, be that synthpop, Italo, bluegrass, or neofolk -- just don't fake it, okay? (the last part is probably why I've had a really hard time getting into _any_ of the electronic music of late.)
I'm slowly adding my records to my collection here on Discogs, which takes a while as most of them are in another country. My record collection is not in the tens of thousands, but I'm happy with what I have. Plus I have a few Jordans, so I'm not complaining.

Kermesse - Mrs Moon - 31-Jan-08 09:33 PM
This is yet another one of Aldo De Scalzis amazing releases.
As with De Scalzis other projects, Mrs Moon sounds very confident, and it is surprising that this song has not received much more hype, as it deserves all the praise it gets.
This excellent track has all the right elements for a classic Italo Disco gem, released at the perfect moment. Following a popular theme of space romance, we hear the singer describe his journey around our galaxy, focusing on his quite romantic visits to the moon. The music itself is beautifully produced and has a very upbeat feel to it, a bouncy bassline that rolls under smooth synths and rhythm guitar, and a chorus which adds many layers of synths and tastes.
Overall an excellent track, and a pure must have.
