Sasha - Airdrawndagger
Mar 11, 2008
Airdrawndagger first got criticized by a big load of fans who probably didn't had enough patience to experience this new piece of electronic music by the hand of Sasha. And I must say that it is a big challenge to listen to the whole album.
But isn't that a little bit what a new album should be about? Sasha took it into a very different direction here. Luckily a lot of people were impressed and especially those ambient heads. The heavenly Wavy Gravy is for sure on of the mans greatest productions. It's a great euphoric peacefull harmonic track with tight, simple and static drums. The whole album is kind of an futuristic ambient experience. Most of the tracks are based on light break beats that just serve as a small foundation. Melody and harmony that's what it is about. For sure the contribution of Junkie Xl's mixing capabilities had it's effect on the phatnes and warmth of the productions. We must conclude this is an (easy) listening album, there are no uptempo dancefloor intentions present. Some terms apposite tot the album are: fresh air, open atmosphere, peace, kindness and even love I think. Yes it is a beauty.
Sumsonic
Sep 09, 2007
During the progressive flow I bought my first Sumsonic release and more and more records followed. My conclusion is that if you like quality progressive house with a intelligent and detailled content Sumsonic is the nr1 label. I can just say that you can buy 'em all blindly. Your able to hear it when it is a Sumsonic record. The strong identity this label created with it's discog is one to write about. Sumsonic is a very respected label by the likes of Sasha etc. No suprise. A label with vision and eye for quality progressive tech house, although it remaind very underground.
One of my favorite records is the Invisble inc. - Stars (Unbroken Remix), A piece of art in electronic music.
Pig & Dan - Addiction EP
Sep 09, 2007
Addiction, a great progressive tech houser for the afterhours.
This record has a killer bassline wich you won't forget after a single play. The record has an emotional and intellegent content of techy sounds. Definitely the best record Pig & Dan produced in last few years. Although progressive house has been declared dead around 2002 this is a timeless record with very strong progressive influences and a very good hook. In my opinion a classic and definitely one to have for all prog lovers.
Incredible no one has ever wrote a comment about Carl Craigs Drum Suck Mix of Airborne. This is the absolute "Beatless" detroit classic of all time. Although Carl Craig made an entire new track of it i still don't understand this ever was released as a remix. This track is a genius 15 min long analogue warm beatless detroit feel that keeps evolving in a very subtle way. This record also shows you how creative you can be with the very basic functions of a synthesizer. The lead synth is continuous manipulated by the Attack Dekay Sustain Release and noise functions wich keeps the track interesting to listen to till the end. Another very important point is the sample of the screaming woman wich returns every now and then. It makes the track extra thrilling.
It's amazing to see that a dancefloor continues to move on a beatles record. That is a conclusion many big dj's from the Netherlands and over the world concluded while playing this record for the crowds. It's easy to add a kick and give you record drive but Airborne shows that it isn't actually necessary. I see this record as a certain anti-statement tot dance music that explicitly leans on drum kicks. This shows the oppossite. Detroit Techno on it's best people
I found out that this track of mr Gerber contains completely ripped samples from "Stan Getz - Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars". Although he build a complete new track around it. The Mike Monday remix does it for me because it shows how you can create a good groovy/jazzy house-record with minimal elements.
A perfect after midnight mood record with an excellent deep forward drive.
This is an amazing classic techno record. Every techno jock should have one in his collection. A nice combination of a deep dark bassline with heavy symphonic detroit strings.
The smooth female vocal completes this track. This track is the living proof that techno music isn't supposed to be hard and fast.
2 very hard to find deep/tech/progressive after midnight tracks with a high quality level. both tracks contain a deep solid groove that makes underground music pretty danceable. unbelievable this record never apeard on a label because it definately would have been played a lot by various progressive dj's. this is what progressive house is supposed to sound like! | ||||
It contains very minimal 808 percussive elements and emotional arpeggiated synth sounds. I can hear a serious sound design in these fresh and analog sounds. This is timeless music. No this isn't a dancefloor buster, nooo. Just pure sensitive living room music.
