Le Orme - Felona & Sorona - 14-Aug-09 10:02 AM
Personally, I think this album is a load of worthless crap, but it does contain one interesting feature: lyrics are written by Peter Hammill, no less. Their quality is debatable, but PH fans may be thrilled to know that the gatefold of this album is probably the ONLY place where you can find them, which makes the thing worth searching for. (Incidentally, as you may or may not know, PH also did English translations of lyrics for artists like Herbert Gronemeyer and Italian singer called Alice.)

Although this album is certainly not a masterpiece (surely very good nonetheless), its cover alone is worth the price you pay. The beauty of the albums artwork is unbelievable (and Ive seen thousands of LP covers). Simply STUNNING (but of course Im speaking strictly of LP version)! As of other points of interest, you may notice a rare appearance of Michael Giles on drums and omnipresent Mel Collins on sax & flute. Overall: Genesis fans (Trespass period), dont miss it!
Peter Hammill - In A Foreign Town - 22-Jun-08 02:16 AM
I LOVE this album! I must say that because its tremendously underrated among Hammill fans. But, having been a demented Hammill fanatic for 23 years, I think I can have a say. First, never mind the drum machines, never mind the 80s FM synthesis, care about the songs themselves. Youll find that "Hemlock", "Invisible Ink", "Time To Burn", "The Plays The Thing" and "Under Cover Names" are among the best songs Hammill has written. And the rest of the album is not a filler, either. Simpler than classic Hammill - maybe, but every inch as intense, thought-provoking and original as anything hes done in the 70s. Thumbs up!
