Tevo Howard - Without Me - 11-Aug-09 01:59 PM
A true highlight of soulful electronic music, absolutely timeless.

Breathes the spirit of Chicago in the late eighties. It is so simple, yet soo warm and effective.

Track 1 is a hypnotive house structure enriched with emotional piano chords that make time stand still.
Track 2 is a beatless composition that reminds me of classical music.
Track 3 could be compared to track 1, but there are more elements involved, a great bassline and dark picturesque background sounds.
Track 4 combines a fat acid bassline with opposing piano chords.

In fact, words can not describe the music because it is all about the extraordinary mood Mr. Howard manages to create. To me, its like an unreal feeling or the soundtrack to the day after the end of the world...

Who is Tevo Howard and this beatiful Beautiful Granville Records?

Grab it before it is too late.

Henrik Schwarz - DJ-Kicks - 13-Jul-08 02:10 AM
Simply breathtaking choice of music on this wonderful compilation!

From the most genious Intro ever IMO - Moondogs Birds Lament - to one of Dreciyas greatest tracks, a deep deep dubbed out pearl by Rhythm & Sound and the Womack & Womack masterpiece conscious of my conscience...

Many different styles of soulful music at different speed, this quickly became something like a holy grail to me. In almost any set, you can throw in one or two tracks that are really hard to get elsewhere. I think it is no coincidence that this relatively new record is already sold out - even @discogs.

Henrik Schwarzs musical vision is just incredible...

DJ Dixon* - Body Language Vol. 4 - 06-Jun-08 06:25 AM
To my ears a real collection of raw diamonds.

Many different electronic styles, every track playable on the floor. I dont think that the genre "minimal/ tech-house" fits here, i would rather say most tracks go more into a "deep house" direction. Reason: with the terms "minimal/ tech-house" i mostly identify clinical, sterile & monotonous tracks, while Dixon puts together highly musical songs with real instruments and singers on every 2nd song.

This is exactly what i would wish DJ compilations to be like, i got the impression that Dixon gives us the best tracks from his actual sets!

If you like his style, check out Henrik Schwarz DJ Kicks, i think they are on the same high level that is very rare with DJ-Mix-Vinyl-Editions which i find very dissapointing most of the times.

Coldcut - Walk A Mile In My Shoes (Henrik Schwarz Remixes) - 05-Feb-08 03:49 PM
Hell Yeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!

Oh my fuckin God, this remix is epic, holy, just cant describe what it means to me!

I allready loved the original version when i purchased Coldcuts "Sound Mirrors" album: an incredible Robert Owens, deep lyrics and heavenly strings...

Arround the same time, I discovered the beautifully organic house music of Henrik Schwarz, who is frequently performing live acts at the Panoramabar, Berlin. I can only recommend to check out his other records and remixes if you dont know him by now.

I seriously think this is one of the best remixes of all time, because it creates a mood that is nothing but pure magic. Henrik adds a groovin bassline and great live marimbas(?).

What makes this remix divine IMO is how he arranged the order of every element, creating a journey that can only be compared to classical music.

An impressive masterpiece of modern music.

Gregor Tresher - A Thousand Nights Part 1 - 27-Jan-08 04:28 AM
Sorry,

but "A Thousand Nights" reminds me way to much of Booka Shades 2005 classic "Mandarine Girl". I wonder if other people have already realized this, too?
I just compared both tracks and the synths build up so similarly, cant believe Tresher didnt do this on purpose.

Would have been a nice track, a bit too repetive for me, but with these obvious parallels, no respect for this one. maybe it would have worked better if there had been more time between the release dates...

nice cover artwork, though
