In-Dex - Give Me A Sign - 31-Mar-06 07:33 AM
The club mix is the best of the 3 three here, making great use of the kraftwerk - tour de france drumbreak. The vocal is smooth and soulfull and this has made it stand the test of time. When the SiN [Pronounced Sine] partys were going at the Astoria in London around 1990, this was their signature tune and would get everyone up on the tables when the lights came up at 6am. Crazy times during the seminal years of the rave scene.
Fingers Inc* Featuring Chuck Roberts - Can You Feel It - 30-Mar-06 08:01 AM
For those of you not lucky enough to get the release on Jack Trax or old enough to know where that "In the Beginning there was Jack and Jack had a groove..." sample came from, then this release is a MUST OWN. Running in a close second to Your love by Frankie Knuckles as one of the most beautifull, soulfull, uplifting and seminal pieces of dance music. Do not bother with soundclips, do not worry about sleeve conditions, just get it where-ever you can, close your eyes, listen and drift off into the feeling of when you first discovered House music. Can we invent a 6 out of 5 rating Please!!!!!!!!!
Intoxicate (2) - Intoxicate E.P. - 05-Jan-06 10:22 AM
Now this was a classic era in Hardcore rave music. I love the way these tracks have every element of dance music in them. Vocals, pianos, breaks, kicks drums, hoovers....all mashed together superbly to fullfill a time in the history of rave where anything went and you didnt have to stick to one genre. A big fave with the likes of Dougal and the happy jocks and indeed probably a forerunner of the genre we now know as happy hardcore.
Rum & Black - Wicked (Remix) / Zombies At Dawn - 07-Dec-05 02:25 PM
Ive absolutely nio idea what Rum and Black were on when they did the remixes on this EP. They are a mish mash of broken beats and samples thrown together badly [in my opinion]. However...........forget all that because you are hunting down this release for the original of wicked. Featuring the famous "Picture a man going on a journey beyond sight and sound", sample from the Twilight Zone and some wicked scratching, along side a sppoky voice saying..."OOOO no dont go in there".....Truly superb!
Ragga Twins, The - Wipe The Needle - 07-Dec-05 02:25 PM
Pretty much all the SUAD stuff paved the way for what came to be known as JUNGLE/DRUM AND BASS. Wipe the needle uses samples from KLF and a simple 303 bassline along with a rollin break.Simple but classic. This sound defines an era of british dance music.
