K-Led Dec 22, 2003
Bendadda Rhalid is a someone who really knows how to surprise. And this is not due to overwhelmingly new or experimental music - instead he continues with what may have been detroit techno at some point. He surprises with his crystal-clear interpretation of detroit, much like a jazz musician interpreting standards. Be sure to give K-Led a listen.
Sofus Forsberg - NO/1 Aug 10, 2003
Have seen him play live at the Juicybeats Festival in Dortmund, Germany in Mid-2003. Awesome. Tries to be both minimal and distorted, works with a great singer, pretty much of Björk-quality. Very good music!
This is probably THE best collection of London D'n'B tracks to start with. Now already seeming old-skoolish, it still gives you a very good idea of where the roots of todays Drum and Bass lie. Not to forget about the classic tracks, e.g. 'Consciousness' by Photek.
Dillinja - Cybotron Feb 23, 2002
Dillinja's long awaited first lp contains everything you want - if you like Dillinja style D'n'B. Deep sub basses, which he created especially for his own bass speakers he uses for his tour, and the typical in-yer-face attitude beats make it a straight-forward d'n'b album, finally sometthing else compared with everything that comes from the realms of Bad Company, Total Science et al.
This is Squarepusher from his technoid side. Using rarely anything else than his 303, 909, 808 and his bass, this is taking his tracks back to the rave times.
Tom Jenkinson makes his d'nb approach to jazz music. Speeded up to 320 bpm, this is breathtaking, sometimes melodious, sometimes cold acid-technology. Absolutely a classic.
Squarepusher manages to release all of his pressure and every style he has ever created alongside his discography in a 4 minute long track. The sound of it all is very fresh, clean, high-tech. It carries on the vibe of 'Go Plastic' and maybe also the motto. The beats come close to the kind of 'My Red Hot Car' single, still they almost exaggerate in a kind of R'n'B style, supported by the first vocal ever to name Squarepusher in his own recording. The track has been released as a single-sided vinyl disc only, and there has yet been no statement made by warp if it is going to be released on future releases (like an lp).
