Cari Lekebusch - Chaos & Order - 18-Aug-04 07:05 PM
An excellent, dark, deep and... dare I say it... emotional release from Mr. Lekebusch. There is a muddy "lo-fi" quality throughout which contributes a great deal to the moodiness of this record. All tracks except one end in very hypnotic locked grooves which you can end up listening to for several minutes without even noticing the time pass. An acquired taste not recommended for the average hard techno connoisseur but for the Lekebusch fan this release rivals Cari's great ‘Vet Dom Som För Att’ and 'For Those Who Know' releases.
Matthew Dear - 22-Jul-04 06:50 AM
Staccato percussion and fat ass bass lines!! What's not to love? Most of Matthew's stuff is not what I would say on the deep, thought provoking side of minimal electronic music (unless you're thinking how loud you can possibly play his stuff without causing permanent structural damage). It’s just good fun micro-house and Cologne technopop that will have your grandma on the floor shaking her booty.
EP1, EP2, and his Jabberjaw release on Perlon are absolute must haves, also check out his False alias for more traditional minimal sounds but with his own signature funk. In the end, you can't go wrong with any of his releases.
If you get a chance to see him live... GO!! It's amazing what one guy and a laptop can do, he will bring the house down... guaranteed.
Joel Mull - Sunset - 30-Sep-03 10:15 PM
A classic indeed. A highlight of Joel Mull's career. This release is as relevant today as the day is was released. B2 will make your spine tingle... Very cold, very dark, but very groovy.
Inside - 30-Sep-03 06:31 PM
The quintessential Swedish techno label. Deep, dark and funky. Inside releases never cease to amaze. Joel Mull has put together a very nice showcase of his talent. If you like his style, check out every release.
Mark Broom - Ditch - 18-Sep-03 07:07 PM
Excellent tribal techno release from Mark Broom. The title track is a very good stompin' techno track, and the Mark Williams remix is even better!
