Profile: Conradino is a man who was born accidentally in Poland and started his music trip from Michael Jackson and Milli Vanilli, but quickly abandoned this direction to open his mind to some serious shit like trash metal, punk and HC (which he likes to listen to sometimes anyway).

Later he went rapidly into psychedelic rock and then into trance, acid house, drum'n'bass and jungle just to discover eventually the power of the blody roots: classic industrial noise (Throbbing Gristle, Einsturzende Neubauten, 23 Skidoo, Whitehouse, Skinny Puppy) and its contemporary followers like Merzbow or Alec Empire. For about 2 yrs he had been a member of almost unknown industrial band Szumivne Tablety from Tricity, PL. He had played few gigs with the band, on which level of noise often reached the breaking point.

Soon he discovered neofolk from the legendary World Serpent label in the meantime starting to go deep inside yass music (post avant-garde jazz from Northern Poland), which brought him to many other American jazz masters as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Ornette Coleman.

Certainly, he was still going further inside Polish Jazz and he found such names as Krzysztof Komeda, Leszek Możdżer, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Krzysztof Ścierański, Tomasz Stańko (suggested feature: "Polish Jazz for Dummies" - http://www.myspace.com/polishjazz ).

Soon he started to understand that he knew shit about the music worldwide so he tried to find out more about traditional sounds from Africa, Caribbean, Asia and Southern America. He spent a lot of time listening to the ethnic and tribal sounds focusing mostly on African and Haitian drumming polyrhythms.

Time was slowly coming to the point, in which he couldn't ignore any sounds so he started to listen to hip hop, post techno, free improvisation, reggae, dub, ska, ambient and a lot of other weird stuff.

One day during his stay in Netherlands he heard extremely fascinating tune in one of his friend's flat... that was a track by Fela Kuti, which sounded like an embodiment of his music dreams. Word "afrobeat" started to disturbingly affect his brain. That was something really wicked!

He decided to discover the jungle of afrobeat and afro-funk sounds deepening his knowledge of classic American and British raw funk, disco funk and chill out funk as well. Working as music journalist for almost two years he had occassions to do that in a very comfortable way.

With his closest friends (mainly bratrat and Cez14 - selectors from Pandadread Sound System) he coined and idea to organize couple of afrobeat/reggae/funk parties in Northern Poland about March 2006, where he started to play as DJ Carajo23. The parties were wild and successful, but had to be abandoned for the reason of Conradino's immigration to UK.

Now he lives in London, where he still tries to find any afrobeat maniacs :)
