Reviews & Discussion:

This is a rather interesting record from the often pooh-poohed Gavin Hardkiss. It's twisted psychedelic weirdness with a slightly evil tinge to it. The track name is appropriate for certain.

A curiosity - I've purchased two copies of this record now. I'm wondering if anybody else has the same problem I've experienced with both copies. There's a factory flaw in the pressing near the end of side A (the "Glass and Lawn Furniture Mix") and the track skips. One might not catch it if one isn't listening closely. I've heard tell that one owner doesn't hear the skip, so perhaps they fixed it in subsequent pressings.
Come inside is an absolutely brilliant italo style joint with bassline and percussion rhythms nicked note for note from the temptations' law of the land, but with completely different vocals. the american remix #1 is my select cut here, hands down. I may not know too much about the label or the history, but this is a dancefloor killer. I'd love to play this back to back with the temps song.

This track includes a vocal sample from the PBS documentary Style Wars, "kingdom of islam, nation god." Very strange and otherworldly sub-bass and synth buzz. Love it!
Theo Parrish - Pieces Of A Paradox Feb 21, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
"Dusty Cabinets" isn't my favorite Theo track, but it's up there. just more of the brilliant thing that theo does with timing. There's just something _off_ about the rhythm, off in a really good way. I like it pitched up a bit, but some people prefer the relatively slow tempo @ 0.
Rebirth - Pure Feb 21, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Don't name it, just feel it. This record, is indeed "Pure" bliss. I imagine it informs the mdma experience. I have strong associations of friendship and dancing with this track. However, one thing that has recently bothered me about "Pure" was that I notice a strange buzz in the bassline throughout the track as if there was a short circuit or loose cable during production. It's relatively ignorable, though, in the proper atmosphere, which is at a party, but quite noticeable in headphones. Regardless, a top US rave tune.
