Pete Heller - Big Love - 31-Mar-08 03:13 PM
Both tracks indeed include a sample from "Wear It Out" by Starguard, and beautiful done I must add, but the track itself is heavely based on, if not, totally relies on the the seminal and genius soft rock / jazz funk track "Peg" by "Steely Dan" from the 1977 LP "Aja". Sample also used in a "De La Soul" track, amongst many other tracks by many other artists... Essential Choon for those who like to groove on a feel good vibe that's very reconizable on the dance floor. Timeless groover....
Coyote (5) - Coyote EP 2 - 02-Dec-07 05:36 PM
Excelent release this is. For those who are into the "neo-disco" and "retro" sound. Track A1 is an energetic breaky-electro track. A2 track is a beautiful downtempo flowing gem using acoustic guitar and dreamy pads. The B1 track is similar to the A1 track but much more deep and disco-ich, quality. But for me the B2 track "Too Hard" remixed by "Aeroplane" is the most outstanding downtempo track I have heard in a long time. This track best discribes as: Dancing on the rocky beach in front of Cafe Del Mar, Ibiza, while the sun sets and the crowd smiles... pure bliss...
Motorbass - 1st EP - 02-Dec-07 05:10 PM
The track that did me buy this record 14 years ago is the B1 track "Stereogramm Gelato". It is heavely based upon, infact uses a baseline sample from the track "Wicky Wacky" by "The Fatback Band". Motorbass didn't alter much to the original, just removed the vocals and kinda put the bassline in a loop, added a hi-hat and a rimshot and a kickin' bassdrum. Throughout the track is a helicopter-like sound and trancy bleeps and blops whitch realy work and make this track sound sinister and realy funky at the same time. A total classic cut this is, very highly recommended.
Empire (2) - Freakman - 07-Feb-07 02:04 AM
Super energetic disco tune, totaly original and still sounding VERY fresh in the year 2007!! Pitched up also usable in a house set. Did it, and it worked marvelously!! Mixing this in a house set makes that moment very eclectic and diverse. The beat in this tune is kind a different from other disco jams, no regular 4x4 standard beat, but an offbeat sort of breaky beat. The guitar lick in this tune is also off the hook!!. Over all: A not well known or under appreciated track that deserves much more!! Recommended!!!
Selway* - Digital Emotion - 27-Nov-06 05:58 AM
I can't believe this record is getting no good ratings. The track "Digital Emotion" is a totally genius track, warping you right back into the good old days! The track's bassline sounds a little like the bassline used on "Saints & Sinners - Pushin Too Hard" but much more vicious and original IMO. This tune also uses the killer sample used, for instance, on the record "Ear Wax - Non Stop 88" (Alliance Records). Floor-filler quality tune, highly recommended!!!
