24-Carat Black, The* - Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth - 10-May-09 05:19 AM
A true Masterpiece composed by Dale Warren, a classically trained arranger and conductor from Detroit. Soulful grooves effortlessy blending with funky jams, gospel, spoken word and piano solos. With these flawless arrangements its no wonder this lp has become of the most sampled albums of all time, to name just a few: Naughty by Nature, Jay-Z, Nas, Eric B and Rakim, Jill Scott, Keith Murray, Digable Planets, Leaders of the New School, The RZA, the list goes on and on.

The Sufferings of The Innercity put to wax. Listen and Feel the Pain. This is Povertys Paradise.

Chez Damier & Stacey Pullen - Forever Monna - 15-Apr-09 04:39 AM
The A1 of this EP has to be one of the most beautiful electronic tracks ever put to wax. One will call it House, the other will call it Techno. Who cares all you insidetheboxthinkingpeople? Its electronic music with soul. Anyone who thinks machines cannot convey any sort of emotion to its listeners, only need to listen to the melody in this song. Shivers down your spine! You know what? This is probably Heavens themesong. God/Allah/Jah/Jehova/Shiva hitted the repeatbutton after hearing this one, so that we, the dead ladies and gentlemen of this planet earth, can enjoy it forever and ever and ever and ever for all infinity to come.

Discogs claims this EP contains two songs. Thats an outright lie!

On the one hand we have Moodymanns mix which is, well, pure magic, basically sweaty dancefloor filling machinegunfunk. The usual quality one would expect from the genius that is Kenny Dixon Jr.

The other side of this ep however contains a totally useless, dull, formulaic, flat, wannabe everything its not, unemotive, funkless and most of all soulless attempt at "making" music. One for the Berlin fanboys me thinks. Skip it alltogether, trust me on this.

The samples Moodymann uses in his mix sum up perfectly whats wrong with the house and technosounds of today: "They dont sing like that no more. Music, music. There is no soul no more."

"I don’t make music for the masses to dance to, i make music for the small majority that listens."

Flower Travellin' Band - Satori - 02-Oct-08 04:43 AM
You thought Jimi Hendrix was the only person in this universe who could make the dull boring played out guitar sound any good?

Think again!

These guys from Japan have done it. This album is so unique, mysterious, well produced, simply mindblowing stuff. Even though its from 1971, it sounds like something from 2075. Buy it on sight. Its the greatest rockalbum of all time, ok we know thats not that hard since rockmusic is probably one of the shitties music genres of all time and should of died with Mr. Hendrix, but hey still a great accomplishment nonetheless. Not only is the music godlike, the lyrics are also very Zen: "There is no up or down. The sun shines everyday. The universe is the only master." Who said music cannot be enlightening?

So, if you had enough of "rockstars" "singing" about how tough their life was in the suburbs, not being crowned prom king or prom queen and how cool Satan really is, go for these guys. One will experience complete Satori upon listening.
