Profile: My collection is far from complete and still under construction: lots, and lots of early Chicago House and Detroit Techno releases (1986-1990) will be added in the (near) future. Mostly interested in New Beat (yes...a frequent visitor of the Boccaccio and Confetti's), Hard Beat and EBM. Feel free to contact me in case you got to offer me something from my wantlist. In-D - Virgin In-D Sky's Oct 30, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
The first in the In-D trilogy and the best, if you ask me. Not that Bastion IN-D Stress and Beat In-D Dream are bad. On the contrary, but I would give Virgin IN-D Sky's a 6 out of 5 if possible. Produced in '88, just before New Beat became mainstream in Belgium and in my opinion it's one of the greatest New Beat tracks. Dark, slow, heavily influenced by the EBM movement and hypnotizing as hell. And no crazy samples!!! A genuine classic, a piece of New Beat history and a must have for anyone who loves real old skool.

And don't forget to listen to the often underestimated B-side. Indeed, you have to play it at +8, and sometimes I think it's even better than the original.
At The Villa People Oct 30, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
It's great to see some pictures of ATV after all those years. I only know the first one in Kooigem ("Le Porche" before they changed the name), but I've never been to the other locations. Boy, ATV was a strange place: amazing DJ's, a crazy decadent atmosphere, and open till 12:00, which was totally fine with me. It's a shame that the first ATV burned down, it's one of the legendary belgian clubs. R.I.P.
J.C.Project - Andromedia Oct 29, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
JC Project's single release, and what a blast it is! Slower than slow, written in minor, melancholy all around, it's almost creepy. Every time I hear Andromedia something very weird happens to me, I get cold shivers, goosebumps, it's hard to describe it with words. My favorite version has to be the Ultimate mix with it's haunting, screaming voices. It's a shame that they've never produced more, cause J. Coryn and P. Poukyvan certainly understood what New Neat was all about! Never hesitate in case you have the chance to get a copy of this amazing record, you won't regret it.
Confetti's - The Sound Of C... Oct 22, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I disagree strongly with everyone who states that The Sound of C is no "real" New Beat. For sure it was a huge commercial succes, selling over 50.000 copies (and it put their discotheque, the Confetti's Club, in Belgium's top 3), but for me personally this says nothing about the quality of the song. It has ALL the ingredients for being a genuine and great New Beat song: slow tempo (113 bpm), a hardstopping bassline and good samples. And it was a huge floorfiller at that time!
Ecstasy Club - Jesus Loves The Acid Oct 22, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Jesus loves the Acid, an acid icon, so extremely powerful, that it blew me (almost litteraly) away every time I heard it in that infamous club in Destelbergen, Belgium. In the 17 years that have past, this release has kept it's strength and makes me long for those good old crazy Acid and New Beat nights. Simply brilliant...
