Various - The Mind Journey EP - 29-Apr-08 05:38 PM
The tracks on the B side are very well produced. Still, I have not been able to determine if the correct playback speed is 33, or 45 RPM. Both manage to sound very good. At 33 they sound like supernatural chill-out tracks; while at 45 they have a very uplifting and dreamy feeling.
On the A side Reggie Dokes comes through with his usual bare-bone synthesized approach. With the slow beat and driving sounds; the music delivers a futuristic sound scape navigated in slow motion.
Nathan Drew Larsen* - Red Shift - 12-Jan-07 11:14 AM
One of the more slept on house songs. This has a beautiful vocal by Black Pearl on "Standing Still" where he sings about time not moving when falling in love and making love. Nathan Drew Larson accompanies the vocals with a clean and spaced out track.
Nonce, The - World Ultimate - 06-Apr-06 01:03 AM
This album is a strong representation of what LA is capable of with relaxed, intricate beats accompanied by laidback, straight forward rhymes. Imagine a warm, breezy, clear Spring Saturday afternoon hanging out with your coolest friends and you've got the feeling World Ultimate embodies. Count on listening to this album from beginning to end.
Nikki-O - Nikki-O EP - 16-Oct-05 02:24 PM
Got my hands on both the CD and vinyl of this release straight from the source. I was told that it won't be officially released. Slept on, but solid. "Sing 2 Me" is very surreal and fun to dance to. Something along the lines of gypsies clapping at night in the fog with a jazz singer prancing with her voice in the air. This song alone makes the EP well worth it. "Give U Something More" goes back to house music basics while the rest of the album goes into the more mellowed out sounds. All high quality Detroit soul. Will be nice to hear more from Nikki-O.
