Insync - 06-Sep-03 11:51 AM
There was only 1 release ever put out on this label. 4,000 records were pressed under the Insync label. The producer of the label was going to various record shops trying to sell them off. He stopped into Downtown Records and talked to the resident DJ who was spinning, gave him a few records, then went to talk to the owner about buying up more of his records. While there, people were coming in and were picking up copies of the record because they heard it being played at whichever club they were at the night before. The owner saw how many were selling and made the producer a deal. $5000 for the rest of the records. The owner gave him a cashiers check for the amount, he received all the records and the rights to the records and that was basically the end of Insync. The remaining records were relabeled under Island Records. Its rare to find an actual "Johnnys Overdose" on the Insync label.

Eastside Poetics - Bang 'Em - 05-Sep-03 06:08 PM
I cant believe someone actually has this! I work with one of the producers of this records and he was more shocked than I was!

The record was released as a promo only, then the group was dropped from the label before an official release

Delia Derbyshire - Dr. Who - 11-Aug-03 12:15 AM
Wow, I never even realized that it was ground breaking electronica! I remember when I was a kid back in the early 70s watching Dr. Who at 10AM saturdays here in NY (channel 9) Now Ive got that tune floating around in my head!

Book Of Love - 02-Aug-03 02:41 AM
I didnt realize this until I put this CD in, but if anyone is familiar with the movie "Planes, Trains, Automobiles", Modigliani is the "background" music to the movie. No vocals-just the basic tune. They use it occasionally throughout the movie, during the "emotional" moments.

Dead Or Alive - 20-Jul-03 12:43 AM
Dead Or Alive was always a favorite of mine. I went to a party of theirs at the Limelight in NYC in the early 90s. It was a pajama party. Wore pajamas, you got in free. I wore the jammies (money was tight) The Limelight was always a wild place but when they were there, it was one of the more "wacky" parties Id been to.
