Pole - 1 2 3
Aug 19, 2008
This is the Holy Trinity of Pole, a universe where forms of Dub / Dance Hall & Reggae are processed through a broken Pole filter and become a landscape of atmosphere and clicks and cuts. What I find so fascinating about this triple pack CD set is its logical progression of material, there certainly are some similar elements but the more you listen closely the more musical the material becomes in its natural evolution. This isn't a mile away from what Rhythm & Sound were during years earlier but it also has its own unique sonic characteristic which pull it further away from the traditional take on Berlin Dub techno. If your willing to sit through the near 3 hours of material in one listen, I would strongly recommend it as this is some of the best experimental Dub music to have ever been recorded. Very happy this work has been compiled into one box set, it was long overdue. Utterly Essential!
DeepChord Present Echospace - Spatialdimension
Dec 20, 2007
I cannot believe no one has written about this release yet, probably the best thing echospace or deepchord have ever done (yes, even better than the coldest season!) The original mix is by far one of the deepest, dreamiest songs i have ever heard in this vein, no joke folks. The most amazing thing about this record is its progression, it starts off so distant but all of the sudden, the darkest stabs and deepest melodies creep in and get right under your skin. The melodies that seem to evolve into the mix just come out of nowhere, then the break hits, the most beautiful chords come in and take you further into deep space than your likely to have ever explored. If you liked Main Street "New Day", "Found A Way" or Maurizio 4, 4.5 & 7, this is right up there with the best of them. The deepest Detroit tech dub I have ever heard! Just saw Wire Magazine's best of 2007, was nice to see Echospace take the number 1 spot, a great year for these two amazing producers and well deserved. This is hands down one of the best of 2007 and I can't wait to see what 2008 has in store! | ||||
