Blue Planet Corporation - A Blueprint For Survival - 07-Aug-09 01:47 AM
Blue Planet Corporation classics are finally released for mass consumption. Deleted vinyl exclusives, DAT-only tracks get a new life on this lovingly constructed release.

Carefully remastered, this amazing melodic trance still sounds awesome. The first three EP releases are put on disc one, and the mastering and digital quality really brings out the best in the tracks. On disc two we get a handful of previously unreleased tracks, most of which are positive surprises.

For those not already into BPC's style of trance, if pigeonholing is necessary, this is borderline hardtrance / goatrance in it's best possible incarnation. Riffs fly by, melancholic haunting synth leads bring the tracks forward and leave an unforgettable impression.

This release has been a long time coming, first destined to release on Chilltribe Records, now in the capable hands of Draekes DAT-records. We are lucky to have the privilege of this release, and at a time when good full on melodic trance is hard to come by it's a blessing.

Don't hesitate to grab a copy of this one, highly recommended.

Psychopod - Dreampod - 28-Jun-09 02:56 PM
Revisiting Psychopod more than 10 years on and it's pretty obvious these guys were on the bleeding edge of psychedelic sounds when this was released. Like any of the Koxbox releases this has aged exceptionally well and sounds very fresh to this day.

The sheer bubbliness of the psychedelics in Dreampod along with some truly memorable melodies make for an amazing journey through sound with several highs throughout the track. Like always with the Koxbox/Saikopod crew the percussive elements are solid with an infectious groovy bassline rounding out the experience.

After such a storming experience your synapses are then assaulted by a faster, more thumping and squeaky Psychopod. This has a soundscape similar Dreampod, probably because a lot of the same patches and sounds are used in both. Psychopod doesn't feature the same amount of uplifting melodic lines, but is still a solid track.

This is a highly recommended release, and I would love to hear this played out :)

Transwave - Frontfire - 09-Apr-09 03:37 PM
For any oldschool goaheads that thinks this is interesting because of the tracks being classics; just know that these are all remakes/remixes of the old tracks, and not the original classics (Trashish, Land of Freedom, Rezwalker and Cycles of Life).

Don't buy it on the strength of those old tracks alone, do listen to samples before you buy.
I don't care much for the newschool full on and this was a big disappointment to me. But if that suits your taste, YMMV.

Orbital - Back To Mine - 07-Mar-09 02:49 AM
An eclectic blend of music with only a similar high standard in common. Orbital did indeed search their collection for gems, and prove their taste to be diverse and interesting.

It never gets boring and each track blends well over to the next even though they're stylistically far apart. I especially loved the Indian "Pal Pal Teri Yaad", but there are a lot of memorable tracks here to enjoy.

Don't buy this on the grounds that you like Orbital style techno though, this is a very different cup of tea.
