Reviews:
Combustible - Take Away - 30-Oct-04 12:31 AM
Spaced-out tribal tracks from Guillaume La Tortue and W.A.R.R.I.O.
Bobun Drums is the standout on this release, with weird synth sweeps, soft atmospherics, and scattered vocal samples all on top of a laid-back groove.
Both tracks feature the famous sample used in The Orb's "Little Fluffy Clouds". It's chopped up and distorted in D Gold but appears mostly unadulterated in Bobun Drums.
Biosphere - Autour De La Lune - 14-Aug-04 03:05 AM
As stated, this album is quite a departure from Biosphere's earlier, more melodic works. Don't buy this if you're expecting another Substrata.
Having said that, this release is still an excellent piece of minimal ambient. Try putting it on at an almost inaudible volume and go do something else. If you manage to forget about the music, the subtle drones and buzzes will unnerve the hell out of you. It's a bit like being in a horror movie with someone else controlling the soundtrack.
Bermuda Triangle (2) - Mooger Fooger - 12-Mar-04 01:42 AM
I would have given this record a 5 if the Subway remix hadn't been on it. The Subway mix is a stinking pile of garbage for a number of reasons; mainly that it sets a mood that is completely counter to that established by the melody of mooger fooger (by incorporating electro-ish synths which sound like crap), and yet it still brings the melody in halfway through the track. It just doesn't make sense to have the pulsing electo synth going with the mooger fooger melody; it just doesn't work at all.
Another case of an incredible track being saddled with a beyond poor remix on the flip side.
Scat - Scat - 12-Nov-03 06:58 PM
I purchased this album from the artist himself. There's probably not too many of these around considering that he burned the CDs he was selling on his own.
Tabou (Remix) is a remix of a French version of "Sweetest Taboo". It's the only track on here that isn't available for download from Scat's mp3.com page.
max 404 - Void - 27-Oct-03 10:28 PM
Quiddity (Last Visit) is one of the best breaks tracks I've heard. Eerily atmospheric, with f*cking wonderful raw-sounding drums reminiscent of 2 Sinners.
