Trashmen, The - Surfin' Bird - 08-Mar-07 11:22 PM
This first came to my attention via The Cramps and was also covered by The Ramones.Great 60's garage sound, simple, gritty and basic ... but killer ! Nice use of reverb and compression and a vocal that is unforgettable. Immortalised in the film Apocalypse Now in the 'Charlie don't surf' scene and sampled on the Music Man release -Cosmotrash.

Robin Reliant - Sincere - 17-Oct-06 10:08 PM
3 wheel crash is the one to check out , a wicked tech / prog house style track typical of 93 .
A long intro with synth arpegiation and lush massive attack 'unfinished sympathy ' style strings , which lead u to the 93 key stabs .
This track is very well constructed , building and droppping until the piano riff kicks in , add a breakbeat (gat decor?) , bring the lot back together at the end with some synth sweeps and it really takes the (1993)roof off . A bit dated but a good tune is a good tune

Pisces (3) - Take Me Higher - 17-Sep-06 06:27 AM
This was an anthem for the DJ Sasha during his time at Shelleys nightclub and also a biggy for Laurent Garnier. A massive vocal piano track that really did blow the roof off when they played it .

Paul Rutherford - Get Real (Sinister) - 15-Jul-06 01:35 AM
An amazing remix here . Stripped down and more hypnotic than the original mix , less use of the female vocal and uplifting strings but just as powerful if not more so . Sleazy acid lines , wicked 808s , a great vocal from paul rutherford , sweeping pads and to top it all off a speak and spell machine . One of the greatest acid records to come out the u.k in my opinion . Not bad for an ex Frankie Goes To Hollywood member and two members of ABC ! .

Paul Rutherford - Get Real - 15-Jul-06 01:35 AM
Classic classic acid house here . Repetative ascending acid lines , snare on the 2nd and 4th beat , haunting warm lush pads and at times an almost vitriolic vocal from paul rutherford are a strange mix , but boy do they work !. The first half of the track is very hypnotic and builds very nicely to a tougher ending .Towards the end the speak and spell vocal asks us ' Are u happy ? 'in comes the 2nd (or 3rd ?) 303 , the claps from the 808 kick in and the track is suddenly giving you a bit of a beating !. The only bad thing is that this doesnt continue a bit longer to a tremendous head mashing acid crescendo .One to definately own !
