Substance & Vainqueur - Remixes Chapter 1 - 22-Sep-07 02:37 PM
The rating of this record should have a separate category for each of the tracks. The Sleeparchive remix is "techno of the highest order" served in its dubby and minimal (NOT mnml) variety, while both BMB remixes serve up the broken-but-straight, harder and metallic variety of the genre, with the second remix verging deep into the metallic, clangy pre-Basic Channel dub territory of artists such as T++ (aka Traktor on his own label, and now partially involved in the Monolake project alongside Gerard Behles). All three tracks are excellent and would go over well in a dark club setting (think all things Tresor-related), although theyd work just as well for driving music, and offer enough to the listener with subtle (and not-so-subtle) changes to warrant closer (dare I say home?) listening.

Bleep - The North Pole By Submarine - 05-Apr-06 04:06 AM
Most of the tracks (or songs, I should say) contain electro/hip-hop vocal samples, while Cycle 92 in particular even samples Kraftwerks "Boing Boom Tschak". The song structure of the cuts on this album conveys that late 80s electronic dance music feel, when the sounds used were still fresh and the music as a whole was awaiting the arrival of yet unexplored sonic possibilities.

Perception (2) & Mad Mike* - Windchime - 23-Apr-04 03:41 PM
Awesome track (Windchime), very reminiscent of the Galaxy 2Galaxy double pack, with "Mad Mike strings" all over, nice example of something that could easily be described as just techno-jazz-funk from the headquarters in Detroit. The b-side is a bit more mellow, introspective, almost nostalgic sounding. Techno-blues with jazz and a bit of Mad Mike strings in just the right amount. Tip!!!!
