Various - Reminiscent - 25-Jun-09 07:11 AM
This is a mile-stone in the recent "minimal wave" revival, a real bible (holy grail, whatever) for the collectors. You could hardly find a better introduction to "Electro, Synth-Pop, Minimal" genres than this beautiful Genetic Music box set compiled by Marc Schaffer who later started his own label Anna Logue Records. Great tracks on all three LPs through from various bands across the globe, surprisingly there is no single track originating from Germany. From dreamy analogue synth pop (TWR/Autumn/Linear Movement, The Actor) to guitar driven electro wave (V-Sor X, Lou Champagne System) to pre-EBM of Absolute Body Control to pure neo-romantics (Second Glance, The New Occupants) to funereal, almost industrial sound of Ende Shneafliet... and much more actually, each song here is unique.
It is no surprise the price for this gem doesnt go lower than 150,- nowadays, but its worth every penny. The box set was originally intended as a charity project for german animal shelters but I sincerely doubt that guys who sell second-hand copies for quadruple prices would proceed a single cent of the profit.
Heimcomputer 80 - Unsere Moderne Welt - 22-Nov-08 07:57 AM
A truly outstanding album from Heiner Gehring who sadly passed away in 2004. This is a fairly odd mixture of harsh power electronics and minimal elektro heavily based on lo-fi casio-like sounds and trashy 8-bit blips and blops. You might have a feeling that you play some retro arcade on a broken video game console. Very entertaining and unpredictable listening.
ps. The last track is a cover version of John Carpenters Assault On Precinct 13 theme.
Роботы - Robotmetrobot - 26-Aug-08 03:45 AM
Although it was released at the belated peak of the electroclash hype in russia (2003), the album has absolutely nothing to do with that. This is mostly sensual yet dancey and sometimes playful electro pop music with a very soft "minimal" touch and mostly vocoded lyrics. In its most minimalistic moments the music heavily reminds me of Porn.Darstellers Romance LP and its great of course. :-) Grab the CD if youd come across one. Three tracks from the album were recently re-released on wax by Hertz-Schrittmacher.
Unit Black Flight - Where Is Carlos - 18-Jun-07 01:50 PM
as said before, A-side sounds really very inspired by John Carpenter when played on 45 RPM, but when it is played on 33 RPM, as stated on the label, it gets way more spooky. :) also there is an excellent remix by Franz Falckenhaus on the B-side which strangely reminded me an unforgettable "Nothing Is True, Everythings Permitted" by Carlos Peron.
Netz - Werk01 - 08-Feb-04 01:56 PM
this album is definitely the music for robots! imagine a perfect mix between kraftwerk and front 242 and youll be pretty close to "werk01". very impressive record, a must-have, or at least, must-listen for every EBM and electro fanatic. masterpiece!
